Localbitcoins should upgrade their password security. I received a mail notification login attempt is made to your Localbitcoins account. I changed the password immediately and after 1 week i get a notification again a login attempt has been made to your LocalBitcoins account from ukraine and some unknown IP address.

This is really the big thing, did you asked the team about it and can they look into it and let them know that somebody is trying to login to your account without your own consent. Better to remove the coins if any exists in that account and stay away from it.

To my opinion localbitcoins is prety unsecure place to keep Bitcoins. Of course, it's not a wallet and it's purpose is not to keep your coins permanently there but if you want to trade/exchange they have to be available to you.
I think localbitcoins have security breaches too often and so far I have received several notices about attempts of unauthorized access to my account so I started to avoid localbitcoins. And this is happening all the time to many users.
It seems that hackers see it as an easy target so they realy should work more on security.

It is always advised to not keep your bitcoin in exchanges especially in those exchanges which do not have strong security. I am also using localbitcoin for my trade but I do not transfer my bitcoin to that exchange. I only use that exchange for to search for the high rated buyers and sellers of bitcoin in my own area and then I do contact with them and meet them to exchange my bitcoins. That may be the best way of dealing on localbitcoin exchange.

Besides that if you are keeping some bitcoin for trade then always use good exchanges. I do trade mostly on Bittrex and my money is secured at there. I mostly invest for long term and when I buy some coins then transfer my coins to my desktop wallet.

If you do not use your bitcoin and have to leave them idle then do not leave them on any web wallet or any exchange wallet but keep them in your paper wallet or desktop wallet for increased security.

If you have fund on localbitcoins also no problem for it. First you need to set the 2FA to have the better security for the wallet mate. I use to keep my find LBC but I did not find any of my fund lost in there.
I would like to take the money out to fiat cash means localbitcoins would be right.
Better if you do not know to use the exchange wallet properly you can go to the normal private key secured wallet for it.

@OP,Check your email, other things might be in a vulnerable state too. Also try changing your email for literally every website you used that email in. Read this thread for better safety: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/stay-safe-159424

I am using locabitcoins more than 2 years I did not find any issues on having the fund over the LBC wallet but I got information like my friend once lost 0.2 BTC for some months back. It is really bad time for him I believe.
Private key secured wallet or online wallet. If account get hacked. Using the same account would be lead to loose the fund again mate.
Please create a new account with the different e-mail for the security concerns mate.
LBC is an online wallet so it can be hacked but they are providing lot of security features which can defend hackers attack, the most two important is two factor authentication and the IP address verification, these can be good features really and even you need that security codes while releasing bitcoins. But anyway if you don't have the intention of selling bitcoin in near future then better to move into an wallet.
I'm preferred on an online wallet I must comfortable in the decentralized wallet, LBC is good they have many security features before you can create a wallet. But since it is centralized you can't store your bitcoin here for a long term it is intended to sell or buy bitcoin and transfer to the main wallet. Blockchain.info decentralized wallet you can store here maybe months aside from hardware wallet.

I don't know what is the cause of getting hack since you email was verified, so it's our responsibility to keep our private key safe.

thanks guys for all sugesstions yes now me enabled 2fa also removed all my btc from local exchanges to safe offline hardware ... well its a loss of 900 $ which taught me lesson hoping this will help others to safe there btc accounts in best safe ways ...

Good to know that you've learned your lesson.

Usually Localbitcoins will be secure and they are a reputable company that I have personally used on many occasions. They're not the kind of shady company like Yobit that you would constantly have trouble with deposits/withdrawals/keeping your balance.

However just as they give you a warning if you do not have 2fa on, you need to put it on any time you have funds in your wallet on LBC. Especially when Localbitcoins doesn't actually enforce a email confirmation policy on withdrawals. Once the hacker gets your money and withdraws it, there is nothing you can do.

Good to hear that you're learning a lesson. That's never too early.
These kind of mistakes are common specially when we are still a newbie and thinking out for recovery cant really be removed in our minds but as we realized that transactions cant really be inverted even admin of local bitcoin will hardly able to help you out to recover or being compensated since this is fully a user fault when it comes to account log-in details. If you are being hacked then its really on users fault or discretion. Negligence and carelessness will really lead up trouble later on.

Just remember one simple rule that before depositing money into any of the gambling site or other sites you should secure your account by any of the 2fa features. In that way even though hackers get your login pass your account and money in that account will be safe. It really pains if one lose hard earned money.

It is good news that some random scammer sent you back the money in that big amount, 0.20 bitcoin is more than 2000 dollars. You can file as many claims in cyber crime if the scammer is smart and uses all the tools at his disposal no one can help you, not even government agencies. You have already done a good step by implementing 2FA which boosts your security with an extra 99% but I would advise to not keep bigger amount of bitcoin in online wallets. That is a bad common practice unfortunately which still goes on in many users today.

Good that you transferred most of your bitcoins from your local exchange to a offline hardware. Also enabling 2FA will add some security so you are doing it correct.

Lesson and experience for you seems expensive but you will recover it once bitcoin pump again. In every transaction that you do make sure that you are always secured, so long!

I think it will be better to open a new account on localbitcoins because the hacker may hack again if you uses the same hacked account for trading. But always remember that exchange is for trading purpose if you want to keep your bitcoins little longer then you need to go to the wallets like Electrum or Ledger Nano S.

Localbitcoins has proven to be one of the most trustworthy exchanges so it's definitely an external entity that hacked your account. Probably it's due to insufficient security on your account since you haven't enabled 2FA.

Doubt the LBC staff can help you even if they wanted to. Nothing they can do to recover the funds. The txid https://blockchain.info/tx/7766884682769f41065086246abd4fa6e441c08a782d60418e0feb888b686e87 is confirmed and hacker has already spent everything. Also, there is no way to prove to LBC that it is legitimately a hacker.

Getting the IP could be helpful but I'm guessing that the hacker probably was smarter than just using his home internet connection with no VPN/Tor. Next time always enable 2fa with a strong password, and also make sure your computer is clean before using any financial related service.

I don't think no one can help you now. Sad
There's no one that can help him now and I want to know if he was able to track the hacker. Bitcoin transactions aren't reversible, once you have sent it to someone and it was confirmed by the miners in the network there's no way to retrieve it anymore so if someone got your bitcoins from your wallet and managed to transfer it to theirs, that's the sad fact that we can't recover it anymore but if he changed his mind and voluntarily send it back to you. That's the only way to recover.

Because it is your responsibility to keep your funds safe and it will be much better if you have 2FA authentication here after,it is just a good lesson for you but you need to move on.0.08BTC is more than $900 at today's price but it is not a big amount.

So remember that you never have to store your crypto currencies in exchanges because it is pretty much easy to hack an email and take our password and then all our money will be gone.

This depends on your luck but in general, you can follow the following:
1. Contact with the support team of localbitcoin "tell them your story they will help you".
2. The scammer sent bitcoin into ---> [1EEqRvnS7XqMoXDcaGL7bLS3hzZi1qUZm1] which appears to be the address of a website or trading platform.
5. Post IP in Investigations.
3. Post this address in Scam Accusations to get more information about the site or trading platform.
4. contact the support team of that site/platform they can lock that account and maybe restore your money.

Post more information about who scam you 0.02 BTC in Scam Accusations
