If this was $15-20 it might start to make sense. Since it appears to be only a few per cent less than a fully fledged Ledger it makes no sense at all.

You're tied to a wallet with no segwit and almost certainly no other future developments either. For a small amount more you can access a ton more coins and full functionality.

It seems that Ledger found a way how to atract new buyers without releasing new device. First they released special edition wallets for Bitcoin Pizza day and Bitcoin White Paper edition which have only difference from original wallet - unique design. It seems that this wallet is also not much different. And I'm not sure that's worth $99.99. You will be able just 3 currencies and it's not compatible with Ledger Live. It's made in partnership with Blockchain.com wallet, but I'm not sure that many users of this wallet will be interested in this Ledger wallet. People who cares about security aren't using Web wallets.
This wallet costs same as original Nano S, but it has less features. If it would cost $15-20 cheaper it could be a nice option.

Anyone here who purchased it for testing?

There is a possibility for pre-orders, but deliveries beginning in mid-November so there is still no possibility of testing - I post that info in first post as quoted text - strange that you missed it...

Regarding only 3 coins which will be supported by this wallet I agree it is too small number considering that Ledger Nano S or Trezor now support hundreds of coins/tokens. But this hardware wallet is primarily made for users of blockchain.com online wallet, most of them only use BTC or ETH.

Now they have opportunity to protect their accounts from hacking/pishing for a certain price of the device. It would be much better move to invest that money in Nano S or Trezor, no doubt about it.

So that's what the countdown was for. I'm very disappointed. A Segwit support must've been much better.
That's their "next big thing is small". The definition is literally what they said and can't disagree with the Segwit support.

Anyone here who purchased it for testing?

The Blockchain Lockbox supports all of the same cryptocurrencies as the web interface. Currently, these include: bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), and bitcoin cash (BCH). With Lockbox, you can store, receive, send, and exchange all of these cryptocurrencies
wooo THREE whole cryptocurrencies!  Roll Eyes

Lol
Not a whole 3. Bitcoin cash cannot be called a whole cryptocurrency. It barely have a name of its own.

So that's what the countdown was for. I'm very disappointed. A Segwit support must've been much better.

The way I see it is that they are simply taking advantage of their platform to make more money because they have a lot of users.

They will have a shapeshift integration, like blockchain.com has. This way you can exchange coins inside your own wallet (sort of)
However shapeshift woll now demand kyc... So not so great..

That means that user can store coins on this hardware wallet and use blockchain online wallet for trading, what in the end means great security for users.
I do not know how this will represent more safety for users? This is no different than being an attempt to keep the high fees. "as Roger Ver."
[1] Trezor users can now exchange in wallet (beta)

Is it safer to store BTC or any other coin in online wallet where the users has no access to their private keys and they are always exposed to possible hacking, or to use hardware wallet in combination with online exchange? With this option only way to steal coins is to hack hardware wallet, which of course is not impossible, but in this way users can trade directly from one hardware wallet to another hardware wallet. If you do not see better security for users in such storage and trading then this is your problem.

Sooner or later all centralized exchanges will have to introduce KYC&AML policy, if you want to stay under radar of authorities then you will have to find some other methods of trading.

The Blockchain Lockbox is available for pre-orders beginning October 25th with deliveries beginning in mid-November. Early customers will receive the special edition blue version of the Lockbox, and existing Ledger customers will be able to pair their Nano S devices to the Blockchain Wallet and benefit from the added functionality and ability to trade.
It seems that the madness of the exchange has moved to the Hardware wallets months, where Trezor announced the same thing[1].
If this is true, they seem to have indirect attempts to have all cryptocurrencies under the control of KYC exchanges.

I'm sure it will appeal to a lot of the folk who flock to b.info and want the security of a hardware wallet with the (debatable) ease of use of b.info wallet... But given the history of Blockchain.info (now Blockchain.com)... I'm not sure I'd want to get involved with this.

I'm wondering how they are going to work around the various browser issues when communicating with a USB device? I guess it will be using some sort of generic USB driver?

Finally... USD$99?? wow...   Undecided Shocked Huh Roll Eyes

I’m curious to know what are the “exclusive features” of Lockbox, since it looks exactly like an Ledger Nano S but with a different skin (just like the special Pizza Day version). According to the Lockbox page, they are not the same:

What’s the difference between Lockbox and Ledger Nano S?
Lockbox has been designed specifically by Ledger for Blockchain. It features custom Blockchain firmware, enabling the exclusive features of Lockbox. Lockbox is not compatible with Ledger products such as Ledger Live.

Manufacturer of the popular Ledger Nano S is announced partnership with with one of the most popular online wallets blockchain.com. Together they will launch new hardware wallet named Lockbock which will work with this online wallet without any additional software. That actually means that user can store coins on this hardware wallet and use blockchain online wallet for trading, what in the end means a great security for users.

Good news is that Ledger Nano S user will also be able to pair their device with blockchain wallet and use this service. I think this is a very good news for those who use this online wallet, but now they can protect their coins by using this hardware wallet.
