Ex:
I set it on "always stay logged in" on my Android phone, and when I shut the browser off it will log out automatically if I hit it on my laptop.

and I thought it was a normal thing... 🤔
Depends on which browser and mode you are using. In privacy browsers like TOR or brave (not sure exactly), it's common to have logged out once you close the browser or if you use incognito mode, you will be logged out once you close incognito tab. Other than this, I have never encountered such problem. Have been logged in for a long time now without any issue.

Sometimes "Delete browsing History on Exit " is automatically checked and as soon as we close the browser, all the cookies are removed and the account is no longer accessible.

This should be un-checked as shown in picture.

Yes, make sure your browser settings doesn't have the clear browsing data/ login sessions/ cookies options checked upon exit.

Happened when I used Brave.

My assumption is that the problem might be with some private browsers on phones or so, since we often tend to close apps and then restart them when we need to. I have tried using the site on phone specially when traveling and dont access to my PC or Laptop but then again it is a pain in the rear to type anything substantial on phones.

I mean if you try to quote specific parts of a post you will see the problem very clearly. Not sure if you all have used some special app to help you with that but I prefer to use the bigger devices to make my posts.

Hence the reason I cannot correctly recall if the same problem happened to me, but a vague memory says that a similar thing might have happened.

This kind of thing used to happen to me but it was on Mobile (Firefox Android browser). I would even get that cookie error message as soon as tried logging in again.
I later on noticed that It would happen every time the Adblock Plus add-on had been automatically updated. Otherwise, it has never happened to me while using Opera Mobile/Windows/Linux or Firefox Windows/Linux

... I have a couple of browsers staying logged in for days.
how's that possible?
everytime I use my other browser on a different device it automatically logs out on my current one if I close it... It will only stay logged in if I don't close the browser on the said device.

I'm not doing anything special. Usually I log in with the "always" checkbox checked since the devices are reasonably secure and they both stay logged in independently. I'd suggest to check synchronization settings as stompix mentioned... maybe your cookies get entangled somehow. Also check if you have set one of the devices to clear cookies on close.

I'm logged in on three different devices (PM, laptop, phone) across both of my accounts and the only time I've ever had to log in is when I do so for the first time on a new browser/device or when the forum has logged me out, but this has only happened less than a handful of times the entire time that I've been on the forum and is usually only when theymos has changed something that has required everyone to log in again. Other than that my accounts always stay logged in on both of them.

Am I the only one?

Since early afternoon the forum system kicks me out every XX minutes and I have to re-login each time.
I usually always set the minutes to stay logged in to 6000 but the system seems to doesn't consider the parameter

This system is racist or what? Roll Eyes

Luckily i did not face any such issue till now and i hope it is just you and should be resolved you. I would not want theymos to introduce any such new way of auto logoff at some interval of inactivity as a security measure. I never logout my account on my laptop.

<…>
I just tried login-in on two separate devices on different OS and browser types. Both maintain their respective sessions in use until I log-out of one of the devices. This causes the other device to log-off ipso-facto. Not unique it seems …

I have not encountered OPs case otherwise than through the above described case.

Yeah this is normal and what is meant to happen when you log off.. Theymos replied to me a while ago saying it just gives you the same. Token for your session or creates a new one and gives the old device that until you click logout as it then destroys that session token on the server side.

If it's on the individual device and it just logs you out when you close the app (not hitting logout) just select to save cookies for this site.

Am I the only one?

Seems like, I haven't seen this for a long time, at least a few months.

how's that possible?

Now you're also unique, I'm browsing the forum on two devices also and never encountered something like that.
But out of curiosity, do you have that synchronization stuff active on your browsers?

It is not normal, because I had login my account on both of my Pcs and laptop and also as well in my smartphone as well but I never got kicked out from one while I was using on another device. But particularly on some browser it may happens, I just use chrome and it works fine for me.

Weird. Can't say I've run into that. Any chance you just mistyped and forgot a couple 0's. Where you able to replicate it? Apart from that I think I only ever get logged out if I am on a PC at work and happen to open the forum via the browser on my phone. Wait did you type it in french??Tongue

Not going to lie I always found it curious that I could have the forum open across multiple devices. Not that I worry much about account security, with the recovery team available. It seemed lacking that there wasn't a notification or that you get logged out automatically if you log in on another device.

Check for malware just in case. I don't experience anything like that and I have a couple of browsers staying logged in for days.

Most definitely.

I got logged out yesterday for no reason, but it was the first time in a few months.

Do you have JS enabled on your browser? I'm thinking the checkbox only works if you do. When you check it, it runs "this.form.cookielength.disabled = this.checked" which is a JS code. If this doesn't run, it will default to the 60 minutes.

I think he's saying that he entered 6000 minutes in the text box.

Did you explicitly set it to 6000? You could try ticking the box to always stay logged in and try to reset the error by logging out once it has changed and logging in to see if it works again...

Either that or if you're on a phone its apparently possible to hit the logout button while navigating the screen.
