Awesome idea, JohnBigheart, really awesome.

BTW, it wasn't me who made the logo. It was a friend of mine. She already read what you wrote and shares my opinion also that it's really an awesome idea. In fact she read your reply even before I did Smiley

psy:

I know I speak against myself but I really liked your clean white logo with the binary circle spelling out pirate. That is about as subtle a hint as one can give and exactly in the spirit of a digital currency.  I noticed that the binary script makes a cool flicker when I scroll on my laptop.

So how about making it a GIF animation that occasionally gives off that cool digital flicker like this?

I alternately erase the even and the odd rows of the binary script to create the flicker effect.

The flicker appears after 10 seconds. I did not want to make it annoying or too obvious. But its a cool surprise effect when you think you are looking at a static image and it suddenly, when you see motion from the corner of your eye and you wonder: what was that? And you look again and then you notice..

Thx for the feedback. Changed to a 'better' sail and added a little shine.

I think the sail shape needs revising.. looks like a shark fin or something. Also you could consider a different sillouette shape, but I do really like the bold fonts and simplicity of this one. It exudes quality and looks like a 'blue chip' company logo. Make the revision and win!! Smiley

The IN of BITCOIN has a diferent collor, which compounded with the backwards PIRATE text and the TRUST bellow means "IN PIRATE (we) TRUST"
Now to explain why the Pirate is written upside down and inverted: It means the trust the users of BS&T have in Pirate is kind of a backwards sentiment Smiley Trusting a Pirate! lol?

My personal favourite

The binary code around the globe after decoded gives PIRATE Cheesy Wich compounded with the IN in a different color also has a subtle meaning of "IN PIRATE (we) TRUST".
The circle has a bit of a bigger space between the end and the beginning of the binary code to mark the spot where it starts.

Or it could mean "hey! that ship is sailing away with all my money!"

So better draw the ship coming with a lot of money, rather then leaving without a trace Smiley

With ship & Bitcoin logo:

I like the approaching ship form better then the sideways silhouette, as the approaching form relays more power and strength.
The sideways ship form is like: hey, there is a ship, how nice. The approaching silhouette is like: hey, shit, this ship is coming for me and it's HUGE!

Or it could mean "hey! that ship is sailing away with all my money!"

Just finished up my entry, I hope you guys like it:

I went with a captains wheel to give it that subtle pirate reference, and it let me get creative with the bitcoin logo.
In retrospect, I feel it gives it a comforting vibe that you're in control and steering towards new horizons with the bitcoin.
This logo could also be in a million different color combinations, but I felt the single color design really showed off it's adaptability.

Thanks,
Kevin

P.S.
There's more where this came from!

You thought I was serious about the frog in the ice cube? Well, I guess I failed to judged my audience correctly. I apologize and will try to be more clear in the future.

Thanks.

You need to put those conceptual wheelchair ramps on your posts if you are going to apply the sarcasms.

Any of the following are acceptable models.

  • Normal smiley:  Smiley
  • Winking smiley, which shows that you're joking:  Wink
  • Other, less used smileys:  Cheesy Grin Roll Eyes Tongue
  • "Fake" HTML "close sarcasm" indicator:
  • For advanced users only, irony punctuation: ⸮

Personally, I like to return to those handicapped in the arts of subtext detection the gift they give us, ignorance.  It's right there under their contact methods on every post.

I wasn't going to post until the end but that was funny.  LMAO  Wink  Wink  Cheesy  Grin  Angry  Sad  Shocked  Cool

Just wondering... is there a deadline for this contest?

I am considering making a design, but haven't heard about this until today... trying to gauge if I'll have the time...
Have you read the thread title?

Dollartrader's top logo has my vote at this point. Matthew's point is a good one about including "pirate" themes in the logo; might drive away investors who do not get the joke.

The joke to me being that banks take your money, and so do pirates.

honestly id trust a real pirate over a real banker...

And you run a company in bitcoin where you hold people's money? Yikes.

why do people keep posting a frog in an icecube?

Quoted for comedy gold. That is "imageshack" and some places are blocked/disallowed so it shows the imageshack logo. I always encourage people to use imgur.com instead if imageshack.us. I used to support them, but not anymore.

Second one has little bit different with a pirate skull in the logo. In this logo the black bar represents a black pirate hat.

Hope you guys like it and comment always welcome.

I keep to the B&W logos as they are more professional in print. Color logos look like shit if you print them on letter heads.
I'm sure pirate will be using a lot of letterheads.  Tongue

I like the first one for the style, but honestly I have to question the mindset behind OP for asking for a pirate to be associated with people's savings/trust. The only thing better than that would be if he turned out to be a scammer. I mean, come on people.

The logo designer, not knowing anything about bitcoin (until now), asked the exact same question... Smiley

Still haven't quite found the middle ground for the parrot's head that's not too cartoony but also doesn't look like a falcon, but my current WIP.

Hello forum,

I'm looking for a logo for Bitcoin Savings & Trust.  I know we have a few designers in the crowd and looking forward to what comes of this.

Objective:
  • Build a logo for "Bitcoin Savings & Trust" including all of the text.
  • Make it professional looking and include either a Photoshop or Illustrator file of the final product.
  • Make a tiny but noticable refereance to "Pirate" from the old name of the service.

Reward:
The winner will receive the following:
  • 50 BTC
  • My respect and first dibs on graphic work for the projects I manage.
  • Priority service and instant access to all of the services I manage.

Post your creations in this thread or PM them to me.

Good luck and enjoy.

The winner is....
