In my opinion, this is not about saving on controllers for boards and reducing the cost of the product, but about expanding the sales funnel of your own product. If it is an ASIC with a consumption of several kilowatts, then enthusiasts will refuse to buy, but any miner can buy a board with a consumption of 145 watts.

It's both, lower production costs vs ASIC rigs, and lower barrier to entry for consumers. It also depends on how they market them and whether
they build boards that draw less than 500W and cost less that USD1000, ie in the same range as GPUs. If they don't it won't help hobbyists.

PCIe X1 interface, I like it because it can be used on motherboards for mining farms with replacement video cards.
Production in Norway and the USA I don’t think will be the cheapest and I’m not even sure about Norway.
If deliveries begin in Q3-4 2024, then we should see test models in Q2 2024.

Production in Norway/USA is just assembling the boards. I'm more concerned about the chips they will use.
I doubt they design their own so what will they be using and who will get them first?

With PCIe ASIC hash boards we can talk about mixing ASICS with GPU, not just different brands of GPUs.
It could also revive the mining mobo market, a rig with 18 ASIC boards would be pretty sweet.

I think the form factor is their biggest potential advantage. I don't lnow about licensing fees for PCIe but
using it would cut costs by eliminating the need for peripherals like a controller, chassis or case.

THE FUTURE OF SCRYPT MINING
Lokotech Scrypt ASIC ~0.0726 J/MH
Hashrate 1.9968 GH/s @ 145W +/- 10%
Unparalleled efficiency on a GPU style hashblade that retrofits into existing hardware by connecting directly into a PCIe X1 slot. Cooled by either air or immersion.
https://www.lokotech.com/

This could be a scam

But this FPGA has very good characteristics and they outperform ASICs in energy efficiency.

Don't buy until you see reviews and make sure the supplier is honest!

That will be a long wait, shipping only in late 2024.

I like the form factor if it's legit. I've mentioned before ASIC miners should use the GPU model with commodity add-in cards.
Maybe others will follow.

The efficiency depends on the ASIC chips and there aren't many companies capable of doing that. It shouldn't be too hard
to track down if the chips are real.

The scam part maybe in the timing. The big guys will likely be first in line so by late 2024 they may already be uncompetitive.

PS: ASIC is Application Specific Integrated Circuit and can only mine one algorithm, FPGA is Field Programmable Gate Array
and can be reprogrammed to mine different algos. This device is an ASIC mining board, the only way to change algos is to
change the HW. ASICS are inherently more efficient and cheaper, the flexibility of FPGA has a cost.
