My trading style is always in the long term, because I do not worry much about prices over the long term, and I always choose the right price.
Better get ready to become a millionaire. That was a little joke but all those who have earned fame and money in Bitcoin and other crypto currencies were the long term investors in majority cases. Besides, long term investment has so many advantages that you do not get when you invest in coins good for short term investment. You would not need to bother about the falling prices not would you go for panic selling. Actually long term investment is made by those who understand hand have good knowledge about the technology.

I think it is a wise decision to purchase BTC and ETH.
Because in the long run, both BTC and ETH are at very low prices, they still have a lot of room to increase because of a certain amount of goods.

I would suggest the top 10 coins should only be considered long-term investments. I am moving all my risky positions into these right now. I took too much risk investing in speculative projects and lost big

On a larger account, you can now take the top coin top and wait for a couple of years and in the end you will still get a profit, but I do not like this strategy, because it's for people who are patient, and I'm not that Smiley

ICON icx  the best altcoin for long term . 100$ in 1year .

ICX,,
look like interesting because in your predictions this coin will go about $100 just in 1 year,, why ? what is the reason ?

because in my opinion a lot of project better than ICX suh as ADA or EOS

ADA have very high supply and are overvalued right now . EOS are centralized .
ICON are more like NEO . better times will come for ICON i am sure maybe not 100$ in 1year but 20$ in the end of the year for sure .

Nope.Nope.Nope. Technology keeps on changing even in seconds. Yet if there's one project that will be like dominating like google, amazon or apple, this might be it for sure. But as of the moment the whole crypto itself is still on the test.

According to risk management principals I prefer to diversify my risks and prefer to form portfolio from several cryptocurrencies. That's why main part of my portfolio consists of Bitcoin (35%) and Ethereum (20%). With 10-15% of my money I trade for short term period and with risky assets, but I don't do even this. The rest of the money I invest in coins like IOTA, Bitcooin cash, Cardano, Tron, Stratis, OmiseGO, Sia coin, ICON and Zcash.

I will choose the top coin for long-term investment because it is more promising and has greater expectations for profit. But if you prefer new coins or invest in the ICO then you must be really careful in choosing if not then your money will be lost.

I think only bitcoin is worth saving like this. Whether it is use or development prospects, Bitcoin is your first choice! I think other altcoins have the risk of zeroing at any time. These altcoins are more suitable for short-term investment!

Long-term investment does not necessarily bring you more profits than for example several months. We do not know what will happen in 2 - 3 years, maybe the price will be approximately the same as now. Just invest in Bitcoin or Ethereum and sell it when the price is significantly higher. My opinion.

Long-term investment in my opinion is very terrible and it can provide a very high risk because surely there is no predictable coin price, unless you do it for bitcoin investment it might still be able to get a profit and the price will definitely rise.

BTC and ETH are good enough to be used as long term investments. Because both have an important role in cryptocurrency. I'm not too sure if this will be the best "long term", but I'm sure it will bring you some decent returns in the near future.

Best for you is to hold to the safest crypto currencies, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. You can have few other that you pick, but take it in mind that you are holding 90 % of your money on those two that are the safest. Good luck!

DeepOnion in my opinion is not good because their team at bitcointalk has gotten bad trust. plus the campaign they carried out indicated that many cheated

Nowadays it's a very important question that, what coin will be a long-term investment. In my point of view, EOS is a good coin and it will be a good one for long-term. And ETC (Ethereum Classic) is an also good one.
I think ETC will be the best for long-term. So buy ETC and hold it at least 1-3 years. Hopefully, if you can do it then you will get a good result.

bitcoin and ethereum is the answer
just hold both crypto for the safest investments in long term
you can hold the others too, but you should know everything about the coins, to minimize the risk from your investments
holding bitcoin and ethereum is good and safe, their volume is very large. when we want to hold the altcoin, we must understand it as a whole. including concepts. team. market roadmap etc. the reason why we have to hold must also be clear

Long term investment is good for those who already have a regular job but if you don't, this not a good idea it will you suffer for daily needs if you relay on this. Long term only is good as a sideline so it depend and that how what I think about this kind of term.

Currencies to keep an eye on are Vcash which has as one of the main features the speed of transactions, the Social Network project in blockchain, the Synereo AMP and other two coins that are in the process of launching buzz generating in the crypto community, Lisk and Wave, which is a new version of NXT. These are some of the currencies that may be good options for the long term, but that's definitely not an investment tip.

Those who are looking for the best long term investments ICONOMI might the one you've been looking for in a long time. Check out their recent blog about repayment programme.

I think this move is flawed and against what they sold to investors initially, we need our dividends, why can't they burn their own tokens, This is not a free market design because some people somewhere will have privy information that is not known to most investors. I think the team has err here, they can't just change the rule at the middle of the game

I would try Ardor. It's not finished but already tested and offers the first decentralized sharding solution for cryptocurrency scalability that is not based on centralized sidechains.

ELI5: With Ardor, full nodes only need to download about 1/100 of the blockchain data that are required with Bitcoin-based cryptocurrencies, given the same transaction capacity. The tradeoff is extremely small (clients don't validate all old transactions, only important ones, but new TX are validated properly).

Only bitcoin I can keep for now, yeah I'm open to some competitive altcoins like ETH, monero, dash and etc., maybe if I have more time for them. Cyrpto currencies are really good for long term investments especially if you are aware and always updated on current trends.
Last week ETH reach 1/4 BTC marketcap. Are you sure that this is a good choice?
On the other hand, the number of new coins is growing daily, and it's not 90% scam coins, every month we can see good ICO like ARK or EGL, so money is distributed to more and more coins, but BTC - unique.
Only if BTC devs can "affix" smart-contracts on BTC - them iBTC would be very good long-term investment.
And u can buy coins which will have a real application in the future, whether banking or public sector.

Yes for long-term investment bitcoin is still profitable and best. For altcoin, Ethereum and Monero maybe it could be profitable for long-term investment, I also began to invest there, but only for around 1-2 years. I also do not dare to invest a large amount in altcoin, only a few coins if any. That's because the risk is too big and profit is not high.

Because of the volatility of the the cryptocurrencies I would advise to carefully check the coin before investing in long term. Questions to ask:

1.) Team behind the coin
2.) New technology introduced
3.) Progress in terms of introducing the new technology (significant new clients for example)
4.) Road map

Then you can see if it's worth to invest. To sum up get any possible information before investing

I wouldn't recommend hodling anything for years but I'm going long term on:

bitbay - D Zimbeck has already created the product and has a roadmap. Knowing how this coin started I think it says a lot for the integrity and talent of the guy that he stuck around so people wouldn't lose money on it.

nxs - if vector space systems get their cube sats up and the pr machine takes over this could be life changing stuff.

xrp - ripple's partnership with the banks (in japan and england) could raise this a lot higher than it is.

also holding various amounts of:

ardr
eth

It's never good to buy and hold an altcoin for long term investment, eth even though is not safe to keep it more than 1 year. However they're still an alternative coin to buy that can't be aligned to bitcoin. I don't said altcoins is not good to invest, but it's better to trade it for short time at least weekly or monthly than keep it for years.

yes i have an idea that why not just buying bitcoin and hold it because i believe bitcoin will survive for next 3 years
and regarding the price also most people says it will reach to the moon so what are you waiting for

It's only worked for those people who "believe" if bitcoin will be survive for the next 3 years and they don't need any money again and keep re-buying  bitcoin. Do you have idea how unpatience people are? When the price was reached $1250, they are dumped their bitcoin because they are scared if bitcoin price will fall again (It happened now)
Investing in altcoins in 3 years is too long, but it's really worth if the price increased a lot. My suggest just invest max in a year for altcoins, and only invest in altcoins which have potential.

i don't think long term makes any sense regardless of the coin. it's all moving so fast. who knows what'll be around in a few years?

the people who lose out are the ones who form an emotional attachment to a project and sit there forever when it's clearly going to oblivion. forget that. ride the pumps and move between them. it doesn't matter what coin it is. the people pumping them don't care.

Iconomi might be worth taking a look at too. By investing in it, you are essentially betting that crypto will keep growing and that over time, more traditional investors are going to want a way to easily buy into crypto without having to manage their own assets. It's definitely a multi-year investment as there will not be much real value until many users use Iconomi and a steady flow of dividends come in. But it has the potential to go to $500 million or more if the dividends are high.

Augur is very interesting because it is trying to create decentralized prediction markets, which is actually very important for making information more efficient. I expect a $300 million market cap or larger.

Monero is a safe choice and will probably grow steadily as well over the next few years. It has many tech innovations (mainly anonymity) to make it possibly even better than bitcoin.

If you want more risky investments, Burst seems undervalued ($2.3MM market cap) for having good tech innovations (e.g new mining algorithm based on storage) and has a small, but active community. I think it can easily grow 2-5x its current value.

Disclaimer: I am invested in both Iconomi and Burst.

Buy few Moneros. Dont exaggerate.

3 years from now there will be daily mined around 1300 Moneros, what is 4 times less then now. At that time Monero infrastructure will be build close to what is Bitcoins now. And you will be able to send them anonymously to whoever you will want.

Buy few since you will need them.

It's currently seeing great momentum and has already doubled up in the last 10 days. However, I still think we have room for another 400% here easy in the short term. Long term it will easily see prices similar to DogeCoin back in it's prime $70,000,000 marketcap. Currently PEPECASH is just shy of $2,000,000 lots of potential and lots of money to be made.

Would like to second this. Pepecash is doing incredibly well while only being accessible through less-than-optimal exchange options. It has a strong community behind it and a lot of super cool stuff coming out soon. Buy in before it blasts off.

crypto isn't best for long term really unless you don't want to take advantage of the inflation. every day the prices of these coins rise and drop down almost to 10%. its also not going to be surprising if you wake up one day and found out that the dev team go knuts and split the chain worst edit the chain to steal from investors.

Any ideas what to buy now and keep for longer ? (1-3yrs) ?  Grin
You can do some search and buy a coin but don't sell after 3 years , just sell on the next big pump , a bird in hand is better than 10 on tree.

I would buy ETH probably then keep it long term. But amigo, every individuals have different goals, so you should make your own research before buying a coin. Your "long term" is not the same for their "long term" know what am sayin? start looking at charts... good luck amigo.

for longterm you really need to look if its a good product, check the forum, get the wallets and see for yourself if everything is working nice and eficient.

really undervalued longterm coins are imo siacoin and lisk.

Hop on the PEPECASH train. Relatively new project that has a great growing community and an innovative project seeing a lot of development.

https://medium.com/@coin_and_peace/rarepepe-is-the-most-innovative-project-in-the-crypto-space-seriously-6d6b74749687#.6sj11xg8j
