I am now interested in a similar question: I transfer the token  the exchange, can I somehow find out how many  these tokens on this exchange are, not those that  for sale, but the total number that  on the exchange.

Can you give examples of transactions in the block? one is for exchanges and the other is for peer to peer.  Can you cite more? I am just interested to know.

Here is example of block with transactions: https://www.blockchain.com/en/btc/block/0000000000000000000397c08197ec14faf64be08714640fbedc83a7c697b78e

Now the question is how to know which belong to exchanges and which not, just seems impossible to tell.

So it seems that there is no way to get a reasonable numbers here. Anyway it was just interesting for me to see how many transactions are from exchanges in one block.

Do you mean individual outgoing and incoming transactions from exchanges? I believe there aren't any repositories for such, though from time to time some exchanges place some form of tags on some of their transactions just so people tracking the said transactions would know that it came from them. Though it's somewhat hard to compile these tx from scratch, it can be done by creating a tracker that monitors certain known tags from exchanges and recording how many of them are included in a block.

Yeah, I've seen those tags you are talking about and I thought that the exchanges should use such tags but as I dug a little bit more seems like they are just a rare cases.

I stated a thread some time ago about the bitcoin price formulation so I wanted to make a bit of research.

It'll be harder to tell now that some exchanges might be using the Liquid sidechain.  Some of their transactions won't be appearing in any of the blocks you'll naturally be looking in.  And when the block explorer is available for Liquid, it uses 'Confidential Assets', meaning you won't be able to see the amounts being sent back and forth.

Good luck with trying to discover those figures. As you know, you will need the OTC transactions that are genuine sales. One source of these is miners and their pools, maybe you could hunt for a list of their addresses.  The other problem will come from whales moving a few thousand coins from one wallet to another that they own, and leaking the infornation. This has been the reason for a few one hour spikes in the price of Bitcoiin recently.

Just wondering the percentage of transactions or the volume of BTCs that are not affecting the bitcoin price.
