I'm setting up a new coin mostly as a fun learning experience with a few friends. We have most of the work done already but I'm stuck on a couple of issues that are probably related.

I have the windows-qt wallet done and working I have the linux daemon compiles and sort of working. I say sort of because it refuses to sync up with the other nodes. This could be a simple networking issue or could be something with the coin itself. I've spent a few hours screwing around with it but would like to get some advice from someone who's already done this to save myself more hours of headache.

I've got the front end of a mining pool setup using MPOS. The site will talk to the daemon on the same server fine but the stratum proxy won't let you mine against it. I pointed CGMIner at the daemon itself and it won't let you mine against it either so I'm guessing the two are related.

So if any of you guys have already been through all of this and wouldn't mind giving me some direction I'd certainly appreciate it.

I could toss some BTC/LTC/Doge your way for helping me out as well.
