Search works Smiley

The search function on this forum is pretty good.  I find most stuff I'm searching for right away.

I agree, the forum as grown fast enough to be able to support narrowly scoped sub-groups. It would be more work trying to keep everyone posting in the correct forum. There might be a need for more moderators.

I've been in here about 3 weeks or so and I was able to figure everything out by doing some basic searches and hunting around. I've noticed the general posts in this forum have degenerated into "how do you put a video card in a pci-e slot" to "deepbit is evil".  It's a lot of crap to have to filter through - I really like the subcategories section idea!

No joke -- we need to split up the forum into some main sections -- break off AT LEAST ONE OR MORE of these sub-categories from this current one:

- Overclocking
- Video Cards
- Mining rigs
- Mining Software & configuration
- Newbies
- General chitchat (WOW look at the difficulty!, etc.)

I'm not saying we need 5 subcategories -- but breaking off one or two of those into a subcategory would make things much easier to find.

Excellent suggestion.

All I have to say is: we were all once noobs before.
There certainly isn't anything wrong with newbies, (I was one two weeks ago) but there needs to be some kind of order to help guide them.

Maybe we should make a newbie subforum?

The influx of "how i mine for fish?" is burying anything actually related to the technical aspects mining.

There certainly isn't anything wrong with newbies, (I was one two weeks ago) but there needs to be some kind of order to help guide them.

There is a stickied newbie guide at the top of the forum. Though I'm not a big fan of its layout, it is certainly a start.

I'm of two minds about this thread.

1) Yes. Please influx of new people, try searching. At least half the time your thread is duplicated on the first page. It's not that hard to find the information you're looking for as your questions have been replicated ad infinitum most of the time with few exception.

2) Forums are always a daunting experience for new people, not knowing what to search and having to wade through hundreds of threads with hundreds of replies, it's really hard.

So... at least demonstrate that you've tried a bit, and I'll be happy. That's just me though, other people might want more.
