you could do what you described, and use a single gpu in a test rig. i use smos. its so easy to use, and you can manipulate OC settings as well as power draw directly through the mobile platform. search the forum, there is a whole thread on SMOS. made my life easy.

Hi i am hoping to link up with someone to get some straight forward help. I have browsed the forums and can’t seem to figure it out. At the moment I’m running a headless 5 gpu setup 2 Gtx 1070’s and 3 rx580’s. I have not messed with anything completely stock. I’m using ethminer on Linux and mining to nanopool. Here is my process...
-ssh into system.
screen
Cd ethminer
Cd eth-proxy
./start.bash
screen
Cd ethminer
./start-nvidia.bash
screen
Cd ethminer
./start-Radeon.bash
............
Out of the 3 580’s I’m getting 67mh/s
Out of the two 1070’s I’m getting 52mh/s
I know I’m capable of more I’m just wondering if i can take one card at a time into windows on a separate pc and modify the bios(rx580’s)and use msi afterburner to tweak and then return the card to the rig and have it run at optimal performance. Any direct help would be greatly appreciated.
Is the process I’m using efficient? Is there something else i should be doing? The rig currently is pulling just over 900w for 120mh/s.

Thank you so much
