I got them to connect but "setgenerate true" isn't mining the first block but it is showing hashps :/

Also they only connect if one node is set to listen=1

just stop what you're doing right now

I'm not planning to release it, just a learning experience. lol
There are way to many already.

I started a 3rd vps and I have 1 of them set to listen=1. The other 2 are just set up normally.
They connect.. but if i do getpeerinfo on one of the regular coinds it only shows the one I set up with listen=1
the one with listen=1 shows both of the other ones and itself.

Nether of the ones without listen=1 in the config file see each other.

Hahaha, I mined a block. Smiley It wasnt on testnet tho. lol

I cannot help.  But I am wondering, how hard would it seem so far for someone with little to no programming experience?

Because they are copy paste clones! You dont have to know diddle squad about programming, just need to know how to read Grin

It might be worth adding the IPs for each client machine in the testcoin.conf file of the main server machine while it's still in testnet mode. The command you have to enter is addnode=

So if one of your VPS boxes has the IP address 10.11.12.130, just type in addnode=10.11.12.130

Not sure if it's all you need but it allowed my VPSs to see each other. If it's of any use, some other stuff in my .conf file includes:

testnet_config=1
testnet=1

If you had 0 programming experience and just knew linux commands I think its rather simple. It is seriously copypasta. And what isn't copypasta is just searching for a line number. I think the only reason I'm running into hurdles is because im not cloning the coin mentioned in the guide. lol

Why has no one created a altcoin making script, it seems like it would be easy enough to do.

I followed the guide I found on google but I'm stuck at trying to connect 2 VPS coind's on the testnet.

I have the merklehash generated and successfully generated a testnet genesis block.

I launch with ./coind -testnet -connect=198.199.116.77

and the other vps gets the first vps's IP but they never seem to connect.

I'm hoping I'm just missing something simple.

Any help would be appreciated.
