Well first thing is to study the existing exchanges and find out what's best for you, but before that you should probably figure out what you are doing/getting into.

This first. Please bitstamp.net has been trustworthy so far, but who knows what the future will bring? As torba said, just start buying. I would transfer $10,000 to bitstamp.net at a time and take the coins out before transferring more.
Seems reasonable, i think i may aswell chain a few exchanges together tbh. I can provide my ID so i don't think it will be a problem ? should i avoid mtgox ?

just be carefull man, start slowly.
Your going to have to buy this amount incrementally, possibly speak to representatives of large exchanges. Or simply start up your exchange with only an option to buy for the first month/week (depending on how much of a bargain your exchange rates will be).
