It makes sense. Obviously, the websites were struggling under a high traffic load. HTTPS should reduce the bandwidth requirements.

It is not a conspiracy. They are just trying to keep the websites up and running.

Can anyone speak to the fact that bitcoin.org used to support https, but now accepts http connections only?  This is also true of www.bitcoinwatch.com.

I'm surprised someone hasn't beat me here yelling Conspiracy!!  They aren't just targeting me are they?   Grin
