did you really believe the client would read an encrypted file???

wow, the BTC technical difficulties are just getting started.  Roll Eyes

Just because someone tries to drive a car by sitting in the trunk doesn't mean the car is faulty.  Grin

But it means the car designers and car marketing guys have a hell of a task in front of them.

So you deleted your wallet.dat and are now wondering why doesn't your bitcoin client work as it should?

If you take the power cable out of your computer, I guess you expect it to work normally, as well? Cheesy

Although, I agree that the exception reported is very stupid, it shouldn't be "cannot write to wallet because of not enough space" (which the above message says), but "wallet file missing" (or something similar).

I encrypted my wallet.dat file in a 7-zip archive and deleted the original file.  My computer restarted and now my bitcoin client displays no previous transactions or my bitcoins.  Is this normal or did I do something wrong?  How can I get my bitcoins back?

Decrypt the wallet.dat file. If it's not in the client folder, the client just creates a new blank wallet. Your coins should be fine.
Thanks, I wasn't sure if it worked like that or not.  /thread.
