Farewell, Leo. You will be missed!
Yeah right. 8 years of experience and 3000 recoveries, like anyone is going to believe that. Your platform is so good that after 8 years of existence, there seems to be no sign of it by doing a search on "Recoveries Pro" or is it "Recovery Pro?" I don't know which one it is, and you mentioned both. Grin What's the website of your specialized company? After 8 years in the industry, I would assume you have a website, not just a Telegram handle.

I can't name a single hardware wallet that does an adequate job of teaching new users how to use it.  Most do a decent job of getting experienced Bitcoiners up and running, but nobody does a good job of explaining to newcomers what they need to know.  It's not enough to say "You need to write down your seed words" or  force them to re-enter a few to prove they wrote them down.  That's not enough because it doesn't explain why those words are so important, which is part of the reason why so many people don't bother writing them down.  Hardware wallets need to come with better information to help newcomers understand what those words are and why they matter.
Both Ledger and Trezor (the two biggest hardware wallet manufacturers) have beginner sections, blogs, or an academy where you can read up on the topics that interest you. The problem is that the TikTok generation doesn't read.

Here are just two examples:
https://www.ledger.com/academy/basic-basics/2-how-to-own-crypto/whats-a-secret-recovery-phrase
https://trezor.io/learn/a/how-to-use-a-recovery-seed

This is a thread from March 2019, which is also the last time the OP was online. I am afraid, he is long gone and unless he figures out what his seed is, so is the access to his crypto.

Hi All,

I have Lost Ledger Nano PIN and REcovery phrase. Kindly advise how to access coins back

Thanks in advance

Kind Regards
Your problem is trifling. Write Ledger's support and they will send you "PIN and REcovery phrase" by e-mail. What could be simpler?  Grin

Well, what did you want? This is exactly what being your own bank is called.

Only you are the owner Ledger Nano's contents, therefore responsibility for the safety and storage of crypto rests only with you and no one else.

If you don't remember PIN code and lost recovery phrase, it means that you lost access to your coins.

The PIN is irrelevant at this point.  OP said he tried entering it 3 times.  After 3 incorrect PIN attempts, a Ledger wipes itself out, so the seed is no longer on the device.

If the OP didn't write down his seed words, his coins are gone forever.  I'm sorry for your loss, OP.  I sincerely mean that.  I hope you didn't lose too much.

I love the security that comes with using a hardware wallet, but that security comes with a cost: if something goes wrong and you don't have your seed words, there's no way to recover.

OP: The 12 or 24 seed words your hardware wallet gave you when you first set it up are the keys to your entire wallet and everything in it.  Each word represents a number between 0000 and 2037, and those numbers are the only way to rebuild your wallet, which means those seed words are the only way to find your coins.

To put it in perspective: The odds of guessing a 24 word seed phrase are:

1 in 1,976,184,989,650,196,401,895,611,477,481,606,960,695,807,738,293,598,959,606,742,767,068,384,079,188,241.

There aren't that many grains of sand on Earth.

There aren't that many ATOMS on and in the entire Earth.

That's why what's lost is lost forever.

How To Recover Stolen Cryptocurrency From Ledger Nano
By
rec
April 10, 2022
Ledger Nano wallet is the latest version of the Ledger hardware wallet. Ledger wallets are (cold wallet)hardware cryptocurrency wallets made by Ledger, the company headquartered is in Paris, France. Ledger was launched in 2014 by eight experts who had professional backgrounds in embedded security, cryptocurrencies, and entrepreneurship. Ledger is more like a combination of Cold Wallet and Hot Wallet

A cryptocurrency wallet is essentially used to:

Store your private keys (again, not the actual cryptocurrency itself).
Prove to the blockchain that you own the cryptocurrency, by cryptographically signing transactions with your private keys.
Broadcast transactions on your behalf to the blockchain.
This is why having a secure cryptocurrency wallet is so vital to the safety of your digital assets. It all comes down to how easy it is to access and steal private key information from the place you have it stored.

How Ledger Wallet work
Ledger’s hardware wallets are multicurrency wallets that are used for offline storage of cryptocurrency private keys. You need your cryptographic private keys to conduct transactions using cryptocurrency, these keys are generally stored online, however, this makes them susceptible to hacks and theft. Cryptocurrency users have developed an alternative systems for storage, these include mobile wallets, paper wallets, and hardware wallets (cold wallets).

Hardware wallets are a form of offline storage. A hardware wallet is a cryptocurrency wallet that stores the user’s private keys (a critical piece of information used to authorize outgoing transactions on the blockchain network) in a secure hardware device. Writing your private key on a piece of paper is a form of cold wallet storage just as hardware wallets are, just more sophisticated.

Ledger’s hardware wallets are device-based, which means they use storage mechanisms—USB drives—to store private keys, thereby making it difficult for hackers to access the key from an online location. Other examples of hardware wallets include  Trezor Wallet, Ledger Wallet, CoolWallet Pro, KeepKey and many more.

Hardware wallets like Ledger wallet are known for their strong security system compared to a hot wallet this doesn’t mean that hardware wallets can’t also be compromised. One of the methods used by scammers to gain access to users’ private keys is by sending fake hardware wallets to victims.

How Hardware wallets (Cold Wallet) are hacked
Fake Hardware Wallet: A fake hardware wallet is a form of hacking that you need to be aware of. Typically, hackers target individuals who are using any type of hardware wallet already, might be Ledger, Trezor and others and convince them to use a modified wallet sent to them.
In the first part of the scheme, the target is sent a package by the scammer with the modified hardware wallet. The package usually includes a note warning the target that their current device is vulnerable or outdated and needs to be replaced with the delivered wallet.

The shipped replacement usually comes with instructions telling the user to plug in the device to a computer and input their crypto wallet recovery key. Once the keys are entered, they are recorded and sent to the hackers, who are then able to unlock the wallet on the blockchain. Accessing the wallet allows them to siphon funds.

It’s important to note that there are no hardware wallet providers that will ask customers for their recovery keys. Moreover, they never ship replacements to customers unless you explicitly ask

Phishing Scams – Many scammers attempt to trick users into giving them the private keys to their wallets. Ledger, a hardware wallet manufacturer, has a section on their website where they track this kind of activity concerning their devices.
The $5 Wrench Attack – This sort of threat has to do with someone using physical force to attempt to take control of your crypto.
How to recover funds lost to compromised ledger wallet
Your best option when your wallet is hacked is to hire a private investigator for yourself in the form of a hacker. A hacker can help you go through the software algorithm of the wallet or trace transactions related to your wallet on the blockchain to retrieve both your account and your cryptocurrency in case it has been transferred to another wallet. As stated earlier the hacker will advise you to buy a new hardware wallet from a trusted and verified cold wallet provider to receive your recovered cryptocurrency.

You can find hackers on Recoveries Pro, a platform that investigates frauds and helps victims recover lost funds. With over 8 years of experience and over 3000 successful recovery cases, Recoveries Pro is beaming with hackers with enough expertise to trace and recover your cryptocurrencies.

Recovery Pro specializes in dealing with online scams and help provide reimbursement to the victims using disputes, tracking down digital fingerprints, cyber analysis, and thorough investigative and recovery work

I don't understand what you did with your recovery phrase!?

Maybe some accident happened and his seed is destroyed in fire or flood, or he /she is simply lost it as most people lose things every day. Importance of backup ( seed words) is sometimes neglected, just because users think that hardware wallets can protect coins regardless of everything else.

However some lost things can be found, so there is always hope that seed is somewhere misplaced and OP should never give up the search, especially if it involves some bigger amount of money.

Farewell, Leo. You will be missed!
He already tried the wrong PIN three times which means that his Ledger Nano S got wiped clean. The only chance is the recovery phrase.

I don't understand what you did with your recovery phrase!? When you first use your Ledger and create your account the device asks you to enter your recovery phrase before you can start using the wallet. It is a safety measure to ensure that you wrote down the words properly. There is no way around that. Therefore you must have written it down somewhere because you cant remember 24 random words without having taken note of them.

Out of curiosity, do you really have no backup (like digital encrypted file that probably got deleted by mistake)? If you have some previous backups then you can at least try to recover it. Next time please follow the instructions of backing up your seed or etc, not only in one place but multiple place to avoid your backup getting lost.

If recovering without PIN or recovery phrase is possible, then hackers would love to steal Ledger as many as possible and then hijack it all the way.

Thank you for your response. I have already tried 3 times and now i need recovery phrase to restore wallet but i dont have it
Does it mean i lost all my coins? is there any way to recover my coins. Thanks in advance

Pretty much, yes. The one and only thing you can really do right now to possibly recover your funds, is to look for a copy of your recovery phrase, assuming you actually did take some time to write the 24-words down when you first created your wallet. Without a copy with your recovery seed, it's pretty much gone. Remember, bitcoin has no official hotline to call when something goes wrong. Being your own bank comes with responsibilities.

If you don't remember PIN code and lost recovery phrase, it means that you lost access to your coins. I'm sorry to say that. You had to write down your recovery phrase and keep it safe place.
But are you sure that you can't remember your PIN code? Maybe you had it written down somewhere. I understand that you probably tried to search for these things in all possible places, but I can't suggest anything better. Without PIN or recovery phrase nothing more can be done to access your coins. It's your responsibility to to save or remember these things. Sorry to say that...

Unfortunately for you, the answers are:
Yes, you have lost all your coins.
No, there is no way to recover them without the recovery phrase.

Sad Undecided

Hopefully this will serve as a cautionary tale for other users of hardware wallets... make sure you have your recovery phrase stored both safely and securely! It is your only insurance against a lost/damaged/stolen or otherwise inaccessible device.

Does it mean i lost all my coins?
Sadly that's what it means, you ought to have written or stored this sort of vital information somewhere, take time to think if you did.
And also before you used up all your three attempts, you should have been at least 50 percent sure they were correct, you just had to be more careful with this kinda information

You need to have at least either your recovery sheet or your PIN. Without it yes you have lost your coins. There is no other way around. You didn't have noted them somewhere?. Are you sure you can't remember the PIN?. At least this, it could help

Can you remember if you did write the seed down? If you've used up three attempts with the pin then the seed is your only hope of recovering the money. Without that it's gone for good.

Thank you for your response. But the article is to recover if you lost either PIN or Recovery phrase but in my case i lost both. Not sure how to get this fixed. Thank You

Unfortunately, if you've really lost both the PIN and the 24-word recovery seed, then you've pretty much lost your coins and tokens. The best thing you could do right now is probably guess for the PIN. Unfortunately, again, you only have 3 tries. After 3 attempts, the device gets wiped. And with you having no access to the recovery seed, you're screwed.

Before attempting some PINs, I heavily suggest that you definitely take some time to think about the possible pins. Probably even take some weeks just to be sure; for you to narrow down your choices.
