Yea there are some tuff cookies on this board or any board for that matter..  This place is rather intimidating especially for new members.  I was very weary to post at all when I first got here.  But after reading a bit I got the feeling that the community was very welcoming to all that had good intentions.  So stick with it and stick around you will be glad you did.

I think people in general could be nicer and more welcoming everywhere in the world, and we have some of those here, but this is the Internet and it can bring out the worst in people. Nothing you can really do really unless you impose bans on people being less courteous and that's not going to happen.

Sadly, I'd have to agree.  Sad

Oh my skin is pretty tough. It was an observation.

I realize there are those everywhere but given this topic and content, and the whole desire to have bitcoin become mainstream, it struck me as pretty sad that this forum doesn't seem too welcoming of new people.

For the record, I'm not mad, not upset, not pissed off, my feelings are not invested in this forum deep enough to be hurt - mostly just disappointed and a friendly suggestion to warm up the welcome wagon a little more.

Never know...there might be some big money VC joining up to network some day and they get turned off by the community and decide to put their money elsewhere...

All good. Just a suggestion.

Do you have some examples of these posts? I have been on a couple of forums where the nasty and condescending elite have ruined it for everyone else and scared away most of the newbs, but there's nothing you can really do about that so I think all you can do is grow a tougher skin and bare it for a bit. There are plenty of people who will answer your questions but there's also always going to be people who will find a reason to give you shit too. Welcome to the Internet / the real world  Cheesy.

I'm seeing that in spite of the great information and momentum, it doesn't seem very welcoming of new people.

I'd think that you'd WANT new people to come aboard and help grow the community. I've asked a lot of questions and even made attempts to join conversations and essentially have been ignored and dismissed. A few, instead of a friendly hello and welcome decided to just be rude dicks during my first hour here.

Nice.

I might be new but that doesn't mean I'm a troll or that I've got nothing to share, or that I don't have resources that might help down the road once I know more about the whole concept. Maybe consider being a little more welcoming and friendlier to new people in the future. You guys should be a little more appreciative that people give a fuck about bitcoin and this forum enough to take time to join up and participate.

It could become a ghost town some day when nobody wants to bother because the only ones here are jackasses with their egos up their asses.

Just sayin.
