Can thermal throttling cause GPU to lose hashrate? I got a used 1660 from someone and I've noticed that it gets hotter easier than other cards in the rig, also even when I tweaked the card to 50watt consumption it still gets 53°C while others are at 45°C, also no matter what I try with this card I can't get pass 21MH, it has hynix memory and I've used -502 and other but no luck, can the heat become the culprit here?
The gtx1660 has such a low hash rate on Ethereum. Therefore, for mining it is better to take the gtx1660 super.
If the video card overheats, then change the thermal paste, look for analogs of the MX-4, and the temperature will decrease by 2-5 degrees.
This is also a good purchase if you bought it inexpensively.

that temps are nothing.
for mining 1660ti or better get 1660s

Silicon lottery at play here, just take heart or probably change thermal pads just to see? But honestly nothing is wrong with the card if it's doing 50watt at 21MH, that's God efficiency lol

I am not so sure anything is wrong with the card.

53 temps

50 watt clock

21 mh sound good to me.

If you have spare parts laying around you can just change the thermal pad and paste, I won't expect an honest change in the behaviour of the card though but we can never tell, do that and drop your feed back

The heat can be the culprit after 65 degrees and not at 53 degrees.I don't know why that card behaves that way but for me at 53 degrees there is nothing wrong with the heat for a card mining. To make a comparison my Gtx 1080 ti makes 41 Mhsh  while running under 60 degrees and immediately at 61 or more degrees the hash rate goes down little by little but not more than 1 Mhsh at 40 Mhsh as the minimum.

Also in my old rigs with RX 580 now at summer after running for a few years during the day they reach 79-83 degree and at this temperature they do 24 Mhsh instead of 28 Mhsh,so for heat to be a culprit the temperatures must be higher than 53 degrees from my personal experience.
