5329, anyone else have a low serial? Interesting this is one serial away from the one listed on Ebay, which I have never owned nor know the seller.
https://i.imgur.com/R1FPN3i.jpg

seller replied to me that $2500 was his bottom dollar and maybe he will just have to list it in Japan as the Japanese people care about collectibles like this, much more than Americans.

Also that people listing rolls of 25 don't even have numbers below 17,000, and that serials 50,000 to 80,000 were seized by the government and 10,000 were peeled.

I kindly replied with a picture of my roll of sub 15k satoris and haven't heard back. for what its worth

Do you have a reference for this?
To our knowledge, the serials only went up to 50500.

I reached out again to the ebay seller and asked if he had any references to prove any serials above 50500.

His response... "Japanese govt raided so anything over is especiall rare. I think I might have seen one dor sale though"

I would call it wild speculation myself. Could there be some Japanese government hoard of satoris that were confiscated, possibly??? - but ones that have never been released and also never had their public addresses published seems unlikely to me.

This makes me wonder what the highest serial satori anyone has seen is? Going strictly from memory, Id say low 43k, possibly 45k serial (ebay has a serial 47,074) is what I have personally seen, but wasn't really looking for post forks so I could be off. Would seem plausible to me that the Japanese government did confiscate some items, as it is very weird that you don't see many sub 10k serial satoris or many with 45k or higher serials.  Just thinking out loud here and 100% speculation - I'm sure others have more knowledge and experience than me

Relevant story, when Satori had closed sales due to the Japanese government's request/intervention I was able to negotiate a deal for a box containing the final rolls of Satori that Moto had at the company.  When the box arrived Moto had signed the final roll.  I cannot tell you the serial number until next time I get to my bank box but will update here when I do.  Here is an old photo of the "moto" roll, the final roll to ship.

I believe that this and the one that MJ posted passed through my hands way back when. I'm still in possession of their older (younger?) sibling.
I can confirm that your coin came directly from Japan  Wink

I was lucky enough to snag a few 5### serials, ICG slabbed. I would sell/trade for other loaded/peeled stuff. I have never seen one under a 5k serial other than Mojos.

I think this is the lowest I have personally seen on ebay, the forum, or anywhere #361 satori I got from Japan  Cool

That is amazing...never seen that low of a number on a Satori...and I have plenty of them!  LOL

You said you got this on ebay?  Once in a awhile rarities do show up on there and for the seasoned collector who knows of these scarce low numbers they can be a bonus especially when the seller or other people are not aware of the low number om item.

I wonder though..when they auctioned it did they mention that it was  very low number or did they just post it as a regular Satori chip?
The lowest I have seen on ebay is usually in the 5k range, but I got this one from someone in Japan I did not purchase it on ebay Smiley I would think the early serials 001-5k were probably handed out as gifts, and sold in those little vending machines. By the time they were exported to the states it was probably the 5k serial numbers, and up by that point.

Thanks for the super fast reply...and yes that does make sense....I just need to figure out who might have something like this and is willing to part with it from the right price  Wink

But seriously, the hunt is one to get a LOWER number than yours LOL. Lets see how that will go...will take years or never!

This is just an amazingly low serial, wow!

Didn't want to hijack another recent satori-sales thread, so asking here:
Is there any grading for Satoris possible right now? I recently got a few ICG "verified" but they don't grade them.

If there is no actual grading for Satoris available right now this would make any existing graded chips extra rare I guess?

PCGS will give them a grade.
If you look at previous Stacks and Bowers auction, they had a few of them available that were graded by PCGS
ANACS no longer grades crypto items and ICG will label as "genuine"

Great info, thank you for sharing! I had no idea.
Here is the 5### serial that was listed on Ebay a short while back. It looks listed again for 3x. Very rare for sure to see four digit serials. I wonder if these were purchased out of the vending machines as singles vs. the rolls in Japan? Most were likely tossed, hence how difficult it is to find a four digit.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/285043661281

Some of the only 4-digit chips I have seen were the ones that came with the "What is Satori Coin" promo packs.
Was a plastic page cover filled with 4 sheet of paper in 7 languages describing what is Satori.
Came with 2 chips tucked in the back top.
These are in the 7000 range... I have also seen some in the 9000 range... so lends me to believe there were quite a few of these made? but who knows, maybe was just random??

Earlier this year, I made a WTB post looking for a low serial number Satori. I respect Satoris for being one of the original mainstream small funded btc collectibles, but always wanted one that stood apart and was unique.  While bitflyers are very unique and limited Satoris, the few I have seen have serial numbers in the 21k range.

During my WTB, I received zero offers or pictures of a low serial Satori. So, my simple question is:

What is the lowest serial Satori you've seen?  I have seen the Satori pic of serial 000001. I believe it was from their website or from google. What I am wondering is one you have actually laid eyes on or from a private pic.  I will not be of much help, as I think the lowest I've seen is not very low at all... maybe 15k. Not low enough that I considered it anything special.

Bonus points if you have a picture or own it.

Thanks!!
