Litecoin is one of my favorite coin . And the price of litecoin is very high compared to the year 2013 when op started this topic . For sure those people buy thousands of litecoin earn a lot of money if they sell their litecoin now. But dont worry I believe the price of litecoin will reach 100 dollars before end of this year 2017 so you have a chance to buy litecoin withcheap price . Hold litecoin and keep buying.
everything is going to be up since the price of Bitcoin which the price of everything else is based on is also up perhaps you pay attention to what's going on around you we wouldn't have threads like this

Interesting to know this thread was started in 2013. Wow!

Back to that time, BTC was also just $100. With this point of view, the increase in price of LTC is much better.

There are many topics with quality posts showing the advantages of LTC in this forum. For me, the low transaction fee & quick transaction duration are the best among others. Based on that, I believe LTC price will continue to increase.

My god..............look how far we've come

One day people will look back at today's price $50.48 and say "look how far we've come".
Very Very far indeed. Its all the same if we are talking on some coins in the market we do normally say even on bitcoin. Look how far weve come as of the current price. This post created on 2013 and now being bumped and wondering where those people who made this thread Smiley  Im curios if they are still aware on thier LTC or even sold it out all on $2 price. lel

Man, I am glad I bought in at 6 cents but wish I had bough more!

What I am wonder is.. what caused the 1st extreme spike with bitcoin and might we be seeing this with LTC? If it turns out Mt.Gox does not add LTC support in the forseeable fiture, do you think LTC will return to the $0.45-$0.60 range, or has pandora's box been opened?

I'm sitting on some cash from a friend who wants me to invest as I see fit, he's thinking LTC I know but I just feel like I cannot in good conscience buy at the all time high... especially when it has so far to fall...

Thoughts?

It's usually a bad idea to buy anything at all time high, but who knows.. Value might just keep rising as more miners join in.

One person's ATH can be another's BPE (Best Point of Entry - just made that acronym up, but anyway) plenty of them to be seen here today.

EDIT: I'll probably buy back some, maybe 1k or 2k, and just put it away for a couple years. I'm still a bit thunderstruck at how fast the value has gone up, and I don't really understand why, so I'm reluctant to make big bets on it.

I agree that merchant LTC acceptance is important because then LTC becomes a CURRENCY, not a HEDGE.

However, for the LTC/$fiat$ exchange rate to rise, you need a reliable LTC/$fiat$ EXCHANGE!

BTC-E buys/sells, but you have to go thru some insane process that looks like it involves losing around 20% in transaction fees, if not losing you cash outright...

if bitpay integrated it, then suddenly tons of sites including Wordpress would be accepting LTC.

If anyone created a payment processor that accepts LTC in exchange for fiat into a merchant's bank account Litecoin would be no longer "just another alt coin".

I do this. You can sell me litecoin for paypal and get cash. I started a litcoin friends page of facebook. If you like our page and send your wallet address I will give you a free litecoin. Because of the price volatility of bitcoin i do not feel safe holding large quantities of btc. I am going to look into litcoin as a method for my customers to get btc. If the prices is more stable or rising at a more believable rate I think I am going to hold litecoins and let my customers buy them and convert to btc. Just a thought right now but i am going to look into it more. I am not buying any btc at these prices I believe it is over valued and due for a major correction. I am not sure what is going to happen to ltc when btc tanks but will be watching.

Payment processor = Merchant signs up with you, customers go to their site and pay with LTC, you convert the LTC to fiat and deposit into merchant's bank account.

Invest in SatoshiDice: https://www.litecoinglobal.com/security/S.DICE-PT

Then when they pay dividends every month, they get converted from BTC to LTC, thus lifting up LTC further.

As long as there are enough long-term investors, and SDICE does well, everyone stays happy.

Is it likely that initially litecoin will have a bubble similar to Bitcoin, which will be mostly speculation.

I know btc can be easily traded for LTC and vice versa on btc-e, but is it possible that a stand alone wallet could do a conversion on the fly between btc-ltc allowing the user to chose dynamically whats in there wallet like having only LTC but being able to pay for btc products/services saving the merchants from having to price in both BTC/LTC.

Vendor acceptance is the only way to increase real value.  Anything else you can imagine is just a form of speculative bubble that will eventually pop.

next is cash for LTC

patience

Yer but you should have Buying Litecoins as the title  Tongue

i never made the subject title of this thread. i just 'hinted' at projects happening. which relates to other posts.

now to answer the original posters question. how to get litecoin price to naturally increase. (valued pricing)
1 no pump and dump (speculated/manipulated pricing)
2. network difficulty increase would cause more costs to miners (electric vs time) so they would sell their coins at higher prices to break even/make profit. (value backed pricing)
3. to have an easy way for random customers to buy litecoins using fiat. without the reliance of getting bitcoin first * hint hint * increasing the userbase
4. having infrastructure inplace such as hotwallets, bitpays, etc to allow merchants to accept litecoins in exchange for fiat. * hint hint *

some projects seem cryptic and secretive as they do not want to create hype (pumps and dumps) before anything is actually available.

even bitcoin projects such as new services bitinstant want to release are hidden in a shrowd of secrecy untill they are released, to avoid prolems, hype and many other things.

The market isn't really deep enough for someone like bitpay to accept it. Bitpay works by immediately selling on the exchanges the BTC you send to them for FIAT and then sending that fiat to the bank account of merchants the next day.

You can only trade LTC for USD at one exchange (BTC-e) and there is only about 3-4K USD of buy orders, most of which are at ridiculously low prices. If bitpay would accept LTC it would destroy the value after a couple purchases. Two people buy laptops with LTC at reasonable prices, and then bitpay would be quoting hundres of thousands of LTC for a laptop just to fill the last buy orders on the LTC/USD chart.

Wouldn't work. :-(

If you did your research you would know that the daily average (over the past 6 months)of LTC/BTC volume measured in fiat ($) is about $20,000. The LTC/USD average is about $5000 daily.

That is $25,000 that trades hands each day.

Putting in sell orders through out the day for a payment processor to cash out isn't that impossible.

If a payment processor accepted LTC and merchants came online selling say electronics for LTC, LTC price would go much higher than $0.07 each.

Or convince SilkRoad merchants to accept it! lol  (kidding of course, I'd rather see LTC succeed on its own - which I think it can)

Vendor acceptance is the only way to increase real value.  Anything else you can imagine is just a form of speculative bubble that will eventually pop.

if bitpay integrated it, then suddenly tons of sites including Wordpress would be accepting LTC.

If anyone created a payment processor that accepts LTC in exchange for fiat into a merchant's bank account Litecoin would be no longer "just another alt coin".

We have to wait for mainstream adoption of ASICs for BTC mining. After that many of the GPU miners would want to get into LTC.

I (and I think a lot of other litecoin believers) would like to see a value increase for litecoins contains to USD over time. Up to USD 1.- would be nice. Now I want to talk about the ways to go there. I'm aware of pumps are mostly followed by dumps, so that may isn't the way to go as long as the most people involved actually don't believe in LTCs long term success. Market grow through more services and businesses using it may also be very hard because most will prefer BTC if any decentralized commodity/currency at all. Anyone has some great ideas to achieve a long term success?

+1

I hope to see it go to $1 but i have no idea on how to do it  Sad

So after 840,000 blocks the reward will half would this help ...

I certainly have confidence in Litecoin and would like to see its long term success  Smiley
