This is great news for both Lupus sufferers and crypto in general. For those who can't get it to load I have copied and pasted the item below. Please help the fight against this dreadful illness.

Today, the Lupus Foundation of America, the national force devoted to solving the mystery of lupus, is excited to announce that it has started accepting donations in the following cryptocurrencies:

Bitcoin (BTC)
Ethereum (ETH)
Litecoin (LTC)
Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
Ethereum Classic (ETC)
By accepting cryptocurrencies, the Foundation is offering supporters with cryptocurrency portfolios the ability to support the organization in a tax efficient way. The IRS classifies cryptocurrency donations as property, meaning they are not subject to capital gains tax and are fully tax deductible.

“We recognize the benefit of accepting cryptocurrency and the groundbreaking nature of blockchain technology,” said Stevan W. Gibson, president and CEO, Lupus Foundation of America. “With this new capability, we are also looking forward to expanding into accepting more cryptocurrencies as well as how we can leverage blockchain to elevate our impact as we see more individuals and organizations using this technology.”

Adding this new donation method not only gives donors another convenient way to support the Foundation’s work, it is a first step in learning more about how emerging technologies like blockchain can help us do more for those with lupus. The Foundation will be working with The Giving Block, an expert in this technology, to grow its use of blockchain.

Donations can be made using cryptocurrency online and will be an accepted currency as part of the 2018 Evening of Hope Gala, taking place in New York City this November.

What will be really great is when adoption is further along and nonprofits will be able to actually hold and use the crypto donations in a transparent way. The hurdle now is that very few people accept crypto so they can't spend it many places. Hopefully this changes over the next few years.

The more anyone accepts crypto the better.
Exactly! Foundation or not as long as there they are that are adopting its very positive to me as well. First it was UNICEF and that will be followed by other orgs and foundations soon.

I posted it to Reddit a week or two ago but would appreciate the help in spreading awareness and/or reposting to help them raise additional funds. Its important for the community to support organizations like this so others follow suit.

Interestingly, they've raised about 1 ETH, a couple small donations in BCH but not much in BTC, LTC or ETC. I would have expected mostly BTC and ETH.

The Lupus Foundation has become one of the largest nonprofits to begin accepting crypto donations (BTC, ETH, LTC, BCH, ETC) and is even evaluating blockchain pilot projects within the organization.

For Lupus foundation to start accepting cryptocurrency as donation has further proven the possibility of acceptability from the populist. If other organizations or foundations will emulate Lupus foundation a non-profitable organization, then, there will be that possibility of general acceptance without any fear of investors diving into it for investment.

Might be something at my end then or perhaps it's due to the fact that I'm in Europe.
It did load eventually, so I can read the announcement at least.

I think it's great news that they implemented crypto donations at a time when there's not too much general hype around it anymore.
I really hope it'll give them some additional funding, might want to share this on Reddit too.

Great news, but that website is taking way too long to load. Took more than 5 minutes to load here, anyone having the same issue?
Perhaps they're receiving too much traffic because of this announcement?

Also, I've checked some of the addresses they've used and seems that they've already received some donations.
