Asrock B250m pro 4 works like a charm with m2 adaptor. I have one that is not the usual 4x pcie slot but a usb connector. Been using it for days together with two cards in the 16x slots. this mobo does 3 cards like that. Gigabyte z270p-d3 also works fine with M2 adaptor, running 5 cards now.
Do you mind letting me know what settings in the bios you had to use to get 5 cards running?

I have the same board. going to be running ubuntu, with the riser setup - 2 m.2 to pcie adapters, and then 5 risers (3 to the regular pcie and 2 to the m.2 adapters)

ill be using 1060's

is it just set 4g decoding to ON and then the upper memory lower (tulad? w.e that is) to 1gb?

Works fine on both Biostar TB250 and Asus Z270-A

Yea but do they need to be powered at the m.2 end or just the regular power at the 16x end?

They have arrived and just wondering do i need to power the m.2 itself seeing as the 16x riser will be the one with the additional power?

I get to differ.  I have rigs using M.2 to PCIe Adapters and they work just fine.

I got:

1x Asus PRIME Z270-A w/ 9x 1070's all on risers, 2 of which use M.2 to PCIe adapters.

2x Asus PRIME Z270-A w/ 8x 1080Ti's all on risers, 1 of which use a M.2 to PCIe adapter.

1x MSI Z270-A PRO w/ 7x 1050Ti all on risers, 1 of which use a M.2 to PCIe adapter.

All have been rock solid for months.

The trick is to get decent M.2 adapters and be sure to center them in the M.2 slot.

Also have no problems with m.2 to PCI-e adapters with Asus Prime z270-a MoBo. Have two of them: 8x1070 and another one consists of 8 different models of Nvidia from 970 to 1080ti. Work stable for months

Im using an Asrock Pro4 z270 1151 mobo. Ive read that the compatibility issue is due to the m.2 using the same pcie lanes as one of the pcie slots.

Damn it. Well looks like I’ll just have to stick with the five cards then. Wish i had taken note that the 6th slot on my board was an old school pci slot and not pcie  Sad

AFAIK, for the most part Nvidia cards don't work with PCI-E adapters and expanders.

Hey guys,

Any using an m.2 to pcie adaptor on their rig? Ive got 5x 1070ti and want to make it six and the only slot i have available for expansion is an M.2 slot.

Just need feedback or suggestions on GOOD adaptors.

Thanks.
