I noticed that I have connection issues as well but depending on where I connect to the internet from.
Try connecting to a friend's WiFi and see if it works like that?

Hello folks,
Newbie, running Mac OSX 10.6.7, installed the Bitcoin client and have had it open for a day or so but it is not connecting. I've had some (much appreciated) input from mewantsbitcoins but, unfortunately, there's been no change thus far.

So far we have unchecked the 'start bitcoin on system start up' option in the Bitcoin preferences and made sure the prog is closed before typing cd /Applications/ and then Bitcoin.app/contents/macos/bitcoin -addnode=69.164.218.197 -addnode=64.22.103.150 -addnode=173.242.112.53 -addnode=178.79.147.99 -addnode=184.106.111.41 -addnode=91.85.220.84 -addnode=173.224.125.222 into the Terminal but we get the following message every time: 2011-06-02 17:03:10.078 bitcoin[291:903] _createMenuRef called with existing principal MenuRef already associated with menu.

I've also adjusted the progs access in my 'Little Snitch' settings so, as far as I can see, there shouldn't be anything preventing the prog from working as it should. I've rebooted several times, ensuring all start up options have also been unchecked in System preferences->Accounts->Login items in case some other program is using the resources that bitcoin needs to run.

mewantsbitcoins suggested it could well be a bug and that I ought to start this thread in the hope you can help resolve the issue.

Thanks in advance for any input.
