Having a Mac wallet is key!  Obviously it allows more people to utilize the coin but it also helps with image/credibility.  It's part of creating a message that the coin is a legit currency intended for widespread adoption.  Otherwise (like most coins) it seems that miners are the target audience-- that's limits the coin's growth potential.

"in theory" indeed... especially on mavericks...

The steps to compile are fairly straightforward in theory but in practise the alt-coin clients I have built so far were forked long enough ago that they have bugs that prevent them from compiling on OSX that have long been fixed in the more popular clients.  Especially on mavericks the compiler is a bit more picky.

Are there any coins in particular you'd like to test a client for?  I've built XenCoin and CinnamonCoin so far.

I'd be happy to test a client for CatCoin to start off with.  Smiley

Hey OSXers I just discovered a trick that helped me push a little higher settings on my GPU.  Clear out your NVRAM. I'm getting 82kH/s now and no hardware errors for the last 5 mins!!  I just wish the 6970m in this thing could live up to it's 300kH/s potential.  *sigh*

Yes, I am a Mac fan and would like to see more altcoin builds, especially on launch.  I thought that was one of DOGEs advantages, Mac client ready to go.

I realize very few people use Macs, but every little bit helps at the early adoption stage.

Hi,
I'd be interested in testing some of your clients for those coins where no official mac client is available yet.
Btw, is there an easy way for anyone to compile their own mac builds, i.e. downloading source code and just compiling from terminal via some easy steps?

Thanks.

Hi there

A lot of the less-popular alt-coin clients don't appear to have official mac builds.  I've done some builds myself and would like to know if anyone else in the community is interested in them or would find them useful.
