yea its my dads machine. id rather have my card mining in that than sitting around the house doing nothing since im going to be using all 6950s in the future. Cheesy but definitely agree apple is not the way to go when it comes to mining for bitcoins.

OpenCL and general graphics performance is not up to par with Windows systems. This is because the graphics drivers is not that good, and it wasn't until Leopard that Apple had good graphics support. The nvidia drivers are even worse (osx gaming on my MBP is horrible, mining even worse even though it has two gpus). If enough people pushed AMD and Apple, maybe something will happen...

I would suggest boot camp, and switch to windows for mining during the night when not using the computer. Or a linux usb stick to boot from.

Lol
Apple has developed OpenCL. If they don't support their own invention now, they will never. Just face it, Apple Computers are not for the working kind..

Planning to use the identical card -- well almost, the 5770 HD I think -- on a Mac Pro. Curious to know if you experimented any more with this?

K so I have my machines running 6950s perfectly fine on win 7. My dad has a mac pro 3.1 which i took my 5770 (pc version) and popped it in. Works fine open cl hits everything hits. Except im only getting 100 mhashes per second on it.... using diablo miner. any suggestions? not that big a deal i guess, he just needed open cl for final cut which he is learning (he works for apple) lemme kno thx.

That sounds about par for the course with OpenCL drivers under OSX.  If you Bootcamp it... it'll run at the expected MH/s.

Cheers,
Kermee
