No. A complete waste of money and a cause of undue wear-and-tear on it.

Buy 4 Block Erupter USB's to get the comparable hash-rate at a much cheaper price.

Would it make any sense to mine with the new Mac Pro (coming in December)?
The Mac Pro will have about the same mining capability as two good graphic cards. A basic set up with two good graphic cards is well under the $3000 price Apple charges. So the Mac Pro would be a very poor choice for a mining platform. Now if you already had it, or would buy it anyhow might make sense to mine alt-coins so long as you can put the settings to a moderate level so there is not much heat buildup in the graphic cards. But with the price of the machine any chance of you damaging the machine will make this not worth it.

+10  what he said .... Dont use a computer by itself to mine at all.  If you really want to get in...pay like 100 bucks and get 10 of those block erupters and mine alt coins.  Bitcoin mining is pretty much out unless you can get your hands on 10's of thousands of dollars worth of hardware for a few hundred dollars and/or free.

Not bitcoins at least. You will use way more money for electricity to run it than you would ever make mining with it. Like 10 times as much probably.

Maybe it would be worth it for litecoins, I don't know.
