2012 (Nvidia) x2
2019 (AMD)
2019 MacBook Pro with a Vega20 and a Nvidia 2060 super egpu.

Thanks all, great info.  OK so that makes more sense now, its MacOS itself which is a limiting factor so best to use Windows via Bootcamp or Linux boot-USB/OS to maximise the gpu.

Any thoughts on HoneyMiner?

Which iMac do you have exactly? Unless its one of the newer ones I don't think it will be worth it to mine. People almost never mined on a Mac. Hence why there isn't much resources about this.

Bootcamp most likely won't work since it technically still runs off OSX. You need to do a direct linux boot usb. From there your biggest issue however will be finding working graphic drivers, once the drivers are installed the rest should be easy.

You don't need much of a PC to make a GPU mining rig. You just need a motherboard with
enough PCIe slots, a minimal x86_64 CPU, a decent amount of RAM 8-16 GB, and a PSU.
You don't even need an SSD if you use a bootable Linux mining distribution.
Unless you need the GPU on the Mac that's the path of least rsistance.

GPU mining on a mac is not recommended. Because of how Apple locks down macOS it doesn't have the drivers or miners support of Windows or Linux and even if you get it to run, you're hashrate won't be the same as in other OS. You're best bet for GPU mining is to run smOS or HiveOS, which runs off a USB stick.

You can also farm Chia on a mac and in fact, plotting is 5-10% faster than on Windows.

Minerstat, Nicehash, HiveOS and others are available, just check their websites for macOS version and download but I recommend using a separate OS like HiveOS or simple mining OS, you can run from a USB stick by just plugging in the USB stick

Yep, I know how to do this, but I don't want to switch back and forth.  Prefer something MacOS native.

You are run pretty much any other OS on your Mac, use Google to search how to run Windows OS or Linux on your Mac PC, Ive done something like this a long time ago and it works, searching with Google won't hurt

Hi all, currently I am using NiceHash on my iMacs under Windows.  Unfortunately I don't like their MacOS solution.  Any recordation for MacOS native miners? I did look at Honey Miner but it scans as a trojan and google doesn't really confirm if its legit or not clearly.  Thanks in advance.
