Ok will keep that in mind for my next transaction with using smaller miner's fees.

Locking thread now. Received the answers that I need to make a more thoughtful decision next time I do a sending of bitcoins.

Thank you to all.

Have a good rest of the year! Grin

Just to find out for next time.

If I used the viabtc that was mentioned by longbob72 then it would of been received faster even w/ low miner fee I added on to this 0.1btc send?

Made a similar transaction just less than 25 minutes ago with a transaction fee of 0.00022btc
and it confirmed almost instantly.
It was for half the amount that I did at the beginning of all of this.

So what is the real amount we should be adding on to the transactions we are doing?
If I did this amount for the 0.1btc would it have confirmed instantly too?

The fees should be set by the transaction size in bytes, not the amount of bitcoins you're sending.
Most wallets have dynamic fee feature and they're mostly good enough to get your transaction confirmed within few blocks. But I'm not sure if blockchain.info works like most wallets.

The optimal fee per byte changes all the time, you can see the recommended fee from https://bitcoinfees.21.co/. Right now it's 0.0009BTC/KB or 90 satoshi per byte.
ViaBTC will only accept transactions with at least 0.0001BTC/KB or 10 satoshi per byte.

CryptoTalk.Org - Get Paid for every Post!
It did confirm 10 hours ago.
So it took a bit more than 24 hours to confirm.

At least it confirmed! Transactions with old inputs have more chance of being confirmed with low fees than transactions with newish inputs.

I don't want to spend more btc than I really have to just to get it confirmed fast.

But this doesn't seem like a viable solution. Imagine that the average joe has to find out this forum, make a thread, ask for it and then get in contact with some member that has ties in the mining game... this is nuts.

How much time would OP need to wait for if he doesn't tell anyone and just waits as most people should have to do?

Around 72 hours at most before that transaction get dropped by the network and allowing him to create another transaction. Can take longer if someone keeps rebroadcasting the transaction.

Tho I doubt that most average joe would tinker with the fee without knowing anything. Especially with blockchain.info wallet where it's hidden until you click advanced and have a "?" mark explaining what it is.

It does say the miner confidence (miner's fee applied was ok? I don't know what this really means.) that was sent was ok.

It's not miner confidence. It's just Confidence which is calculated by the number of nodes with that transaction and Miner preference which doesn't have any explanation (I guess it involves the priority and fee of the tx).
Got it thanks.
Will update after this 72 hours has passed. It is showing as 14 hours but was more like 14.5 hours now.
So will wait another 57.5 hours Embarrassed until doing anything about it.

Will this ever confirm? What will happen to the transacted amount if it rejected? Will it get sent back to the wallet where it came from or is it lost in the blockchain to never be confirmed?

It probably won't confirm normally anytime soon. If the transaction gets dropped from the network you can just create a new one.

Quickseller or macbook-air can help you get that transaction confirmed. There's ViaBTC but it won't work for tx with less than 0.0001/KB fee.
I did use the blockchain.info wallet so how would I create a new one using that?
I thought you can only do that if it was using the bitcoin core wallet. As the user above your response suggested using the -zapwallet function which is for bitcoin core's command line interface so i can not do that in the blockchain.info wallet, as far as I know.

Well the tx fee is 0.000006btc so I don't think ViaBTC would work either.
Maybe those two users you mentioned could tell me here if it is possible to hurry up this transaction by adding somemore to the tx fee at this point or not. it has been more than 14 hours now so that option might not be available to me at this time.

The transaction should disappear from your wallet after some time, returning the bitcoins to you and allowing you to create another transaction normally.

Those two users can help you by pushing your transaction to F2pool so that your transaction will be confirmed once F2pool mines a block. Not increasing the fee of that transaction.

I mistyped with an extra couple of zeros in my tx fee when I entered it. Embarrassed

I have had amounts stuck "forever" in the past, because I didn't seend the recommended fee. I have never had problems with bitcoin core's recommended fee and fortunately never had any amount stuck if I used the requested fee anywhere, so I once sent a fee that was too low from bitcoin core, I was able to get the coins back using -zapwallet i think or some sort of command.

What I dont know is what would happen if I sent it from blockchain.info since its a simple web wallet with no commands...
