Ah... the minds of the masses.

At $15 "it's a casino game for geeks".

At $30 "it's drug money".

At $60 "it's a laundering operation".

At $90 "it's a speculative bubble".

At $120 "it's a tulip ponzi scheme".

At $150 ... "Worth a punt".

I just switched on my TV and bitcoin was being discussed on Al Jazeera's Inside Story. It was quite good, the link to Inside Story is here http://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/insidestory/, but at the time of posting this the bitcoin episode is not yet uploaded.

If nothing else, bitcoin is sure getting a lot of attention lately.

Most of the reporting has been fairly negative and critical of Bitcoin.

I've spoken about Bitcoin with many people and most of all they simply don't understand it. To expect them to start investing when the BBC are calling it a speculative bubble....  What are you smoking?

Bitcoin was just discussed on national BBC radio in the UK.

The verdict: it's a speculative bubble.

It's also on the front page of the financial times in the UK.

Definitely gaining mainstream attention now.

I think people can expect a spike in demand within a few days of any mainstream publicity, as it takes people a few days to read and comprehend what BTC actually is.
