Natural gas exports from Russia to the European Union was measured at 179.3 billion cubic meters in 2016, the highest ever for a single year. This is a major blow to the Americans and the Arabs, who were attempting to sabotage the supplies. Also, this means increase in tax revenue for the Russian treasury.

That is why Russia started the war in Syria. Gazprom is afraid of competition. It is a nightmare for Russia, the gas pipeline from Iran to Europe. So Russia is sponsoring ISIS and other terrorist organizations.

Oh really? You need some geography and politics lessons. If Iran want, they can easily construct a pipeline via Turkey to Europe, or one via Armenia and Georgia to Europe. Syria doesn't even has a land border with Iran. And also, tens of thousands of Iranian soldiers are in Syria, supporting the regime of Bashar al Assad.

And once again, ISIS was created by the CIA. Russia and its allies (Assad, Iran.etc) are waging the war against the ISIS.

Right build a transcontinental pipeline through the most unstable region of the world.

There are terror bombings everywhere in syria, iraq, turkey with isis roaming everywhere too. are you fucking living on pluto?
Oh no right just a terrible russian troll.

You know how to kill russia without wasting a single bullet?
Europe just needs to stop buying gas. Russia would collapse to a 2nd somalia/north korea in less then one or two years.

The most important interest of russia is an unstable middle east.
Nobody has more advantage of it then russia.

Stopping the USA to secure more "allies" and europe to get different energy suppliers.

Btw. The latest (i think) EU energy strategy paper says europe would be atleast 6 months fine without any gas supply from russia.

There is development. Soon TM.

Europe don't have good alternatives to Russian gas, and probably nothing will change in next years.
But I can say story from my country. Few years ago, gas terminal was builded and we started to buy gas from Norway which are imported with ships. These gas are cheaper than russian and we can be independent from russian gas. But now Gazprom offered good conditions and started to sell gas cheaper than earlier, because they don't want to lose clients.
But big European countries don't have alternatives. Transporting gas from arab countries is expensive.

The Norwegian gas production is declining sharply. Within 10-15 years, Norway will be a net importer of gas. And forget about LNG. It will always be much more expensive than the pipeline gas. One option is to construct a pipeline from Iran to Europe. But then, Iran also is not in good terms with most of the European Union member nations.

This country which had build the ship, I think it was Lithuania, Eastern Europe. It was a very expensive and a very bad project for such undeveloped country like Lithuania. I would say that their government is very corrupted. Wasted its societies hard earned money on dead end projects like fucking gas transporting ship

Yes, project is expensive, but it's good. Lithuania don't need to buy gas from Gazprom, which they offered above market price. Now gas in our country become cheaper. Also, Gazprom now started to sell gas to Lithuania cheaper, and it's only because we have this ship. Also, Lithuania re-sells some gas from ship to other countries. Our government is corrupted but it's good project, I see only positive results of it. And I heard that Estonia want to build similar ship.

The total Russian gas exports to the EU is around 179.3 billion cubic meters. Out of that the exports to Lithuania accounts for less than 1%. For Gazprom, this is very insignificant. And moreover, the LNG comes from Norway, which is diverting the gas which was otherwise destined for the United Kingdom. Lithuania buys gas from Norway, and therefore the UK needs to increase its gas purchases from Russia (in 2016, UK increased its purchases of Russian gas by 57%).

We need totally new energy sources which are much more sustainable and efficient. France is developing THORIUM based nuclear rectors. Almost every top nation is trying to develop it first. Also as civilization we are quickly advancing in FUSION POWER REACTORS - STAR POWER.

I imagine future abundant with clean, cheap, powerful and very safe energy sources and its awesome.

That's also why I say Europe should tell USA to go fuck themselves and become friend with Russia.
Russia and Europe have always been very close, until Napoleon divided the two and then USA made sure we never came back all together.
Russia + Europe = a whole fucking continent of natural ressources.
No one could stop us.
We could finally stop abiding this ridiculous American economical system. And this horrible American culture.

You like little children. Rejoice in the fact that not earned. A Russian kleptomaniac will steal. What have you personally changed? Salary increase or pension? And maybe to build a road start? You can not answer I already know!
