They make adapters like this for less than a dollar and they are right down the street I assume. Your time that you waste putting these together is more valuable than the cost of the parts. you may even have one floating in a computer that is lying around, you never know.

If the 1080/1070 (8 pin) is anything like the AMD RX 470/480/570/580 (8 pin) which isn't actually compliant to PCIe specifications, you might get away with just plugging in an 6pin into the 8pin connector.

Worked for all my RX cards that needed 8pin connectors but I only had 6pin available.

Yes, it's will work : all tensions are ok.
But be carrefull with multiples adapters.
I'm a little surprised that you have to make such cabling with an EVGA PSU : EVGA PSU are the PSU with the more GPUs output : 6 or even 8 with the 1000/1200 W and you are talking about 1600 W...

well ye, this one has 9x VGA Ports. But I want to have 4x 1080 TI (2x8pin each) and 2 1070 (1x 8pin each).
So you have 6 gpus and you need 10 VGA ports. But as told, it "only" has 9 .. so i have wanted to reuse 1 cables twice .)
No chance : I have an EVGA 1000 W PSU with 6 GPUs output.
And, in the cable bundla, IT is :
 - 4 cables 2 x 6 + 2 pins, then 8 connectors 6 + 2 pins
 - 2 cables 1 x 6 + 2 pins, then 2 connectors 6 + 2 pins
Total : 10 connectors 6 + 2 pins :-).
This is a very good bundle :-).

Hi

Consider the PSU EVGA 1600 P2
I want to power 1 1080 TI with 2 cables and 1 1070 as well, because i got a small cable reduction to the gpu: 2x6pin -> 8pin
So I want to take the 2 cables, each having 1 8pin and 1 6pin and the those 2 6pins make 1+ 8pin connector

(sorry the red 6 at the bottom should be Cool
