I've been doing this kind of merit challenge for months in my local board, and the result is more or less good enough to help some people get merits (minority). A lot of challenges that I create focuses on making a content/post about Bitcoin or crypto/meta in general. But lately, it doesn't gain much interest so I need to close it.

It seems there are only a small number of people who will participate in making a content/post, but more people who will participate in low effort or relatively quick task like making a vanitygen address with tools. So it's still near impossible for the majority if they don't spend time reading and making a good post if they want to rank up even though we provide them with this kind of challenge.

So a newbie asking others to stop chasing after Merits while hoping to gain Merits at the same time?

The irony is strong in this one.

If you want to merit other bitcointalk users write here job/challenge post ("What needs to be done")
Challenge!

Stop posting threads like this one. Stop making posts which are obviously searching for merit. Stop spamming. Forget merit even exists. Forget about ranking up. Go out and spend hours, days, weeks reading and learning about bitcoin. Then discuss bitcoin with others. Read more than you write. A lot more. Contribute to the forum in a meaningful way.

If you complete my challenge, I guarantee you will earn merits along the way.

Merit is not meant to be awarded for jobs. A job is a relation that conceptually benefits the employer who in turn rewards the employee in the form of payment. Merit being used as a form of payment there would not be in line with the general spirit it was conceived for, and would benefit a personal situation rather than the forum itself.

Challenges are, in my opinion, on the limit of being acceptable for merits. Again, merit should be awarded to well constructed decent posts. A challenge may or may not lead to that, and often crops up to blow some steam off or for a laugh of a sort. I have seen other’s that are rather decent though, that are crypto related, such as awarding merit for the first x users that create a vanity address (with some restrictions).

A challenge may be acceptable, but a recurring excess of challenges would seem pretty sad, and could indicate that something is way off course and that there is a general lack of decent content creation per-se.

I think creating a video about some situations on the forum would surely earn you a bunch of merits. Wink

You can check this thread for an example with decent amounts of merits revived for the creation of video on the situation in the reputation section.

Hi, guys
I' ve noticed a problem with merits begging / merit giveaways etc. All these methods do not look legit adding value to our community but just make hype and thread bumping.

So I am here to try to solve the problem.

1. If you want to merit other bitcointalk users write here job/challenge post ("What needs to be done")

2. If you are completed the job and wants to get your merit just reply to the job post with a link.

Please read the forum rules before posting any jobs/challenges!!!

Peace Smiley
