Anyone in cryptocurrency, from newbies to plebs should know

- Not your keys, not your coins.
- Exchanges are very scammy.

The important reminder from theymos is another repeat of above reminders and I hope that it won't vanish in the air a few days after people read it. I believe the majoriry will still store their cryptocurrency at exchanges and skip all these reminders.

Despite the fact that the information is widely available online, on social media, and throughout the globe, it is still crucial to spread it here. Not every subforum's pinned message is viewed by everyone, but seeing this one on the forum's front page will catch the attention of members who don't care to read significant pinned messages in subgroups. I hope everyone, in particular newbies, become familiar with the crucial messages presented here and heed the warnings.

A newbie who's just been here for a few days or a week will probably think that a link just below the username isn't some big deal announcement. One might think there's always a link there about anything.

However, what's in the link is also something anybody must have stumbled upon in the news, whether mainstream business or finance news or crypto-related online news sites. It is even all over social media. I guess this is just the admin doing his part in spreading awareness.

Also, even if a newbie doesn't click on the link, the reminder is already there, concise and on point!

Actually anyone who is forum user will obviously come in contact with the announcement because it's in the front of the forum dashboard, and it's pinned and locked, so immediately you click there it will take you to the board directly without uttering anything. So it's only the newbies who are some weeks old will not likely detect such pinned announcement by the theymos. Shall i appluad you by putting more effort to make it to be known to someone people who didn't seen it or been unknown to.

~snip~, to me OP is just creating a repetition of what everyone is already aware of but nevertheless i think someone may be find it as a reminder.

Of course, this is a repetition of information and also a reminder. I didn't even notice that theymos embedding some pretty important up-to-date information related to recent events.
I tend to agree with you that isn't wrongdoing to post it here to warn other newbies, I didn't notice it too.  At the top of our profile, there were always announcements made by theymos, before, it was a pumpkin art contest and I didn't even notice it until I saw this thread.

It's a pretty common announcement that always reminds us here and even me, I always repeatedly say that "Not your key, not your coins" which is the same thought on theymos announcement.

theymos announcement may be based on responses from petition threads created on meta boards..
In my opinion, the announcements made and pinned are good enough and worth doing. it's just, how to make more and more people in the forum know about it.
creating a warning banner in the forum view doesn't seem good. Important Announcement as it is made looks pretty good. regardless of whether new members will read it or not. information has been embedded.

Lol, why you need to create new thread to warn this, the reason why Theymos put this reminder on below of our profile is to make everyone know!
There is no problem in posting the notice in the beginners section since its visitors will be newcomers who may not notice the original post. It would also be good to translate it and publish it in the local sections in different languages.
The good thing about Post Theymos is that it provides suggestions for using specific applications, which will provide an easy solution for beginners that avoids them searching in many technical details before buying their first bitcoins.

Designing for everyone
I mean, the announcement is pretty obvious if you pay attention. It's hard to miss.  Cheesy
Anyway, this is the first time I knew that there is a sub forum for announcements here. I never tried to click the news here. Good thing to know. I guess I need to explore the forum more.

There's nothing wrong with the OP about a non-breaking loop, it's a reminder to those who don't focus on the main embed. and this thread also helps us all discuss what theymos explained because in the main thread the thread can only be seen and cannot comment.

Discussing the essence of the announcement, Theymos reminds us not to save our money or assets in online accounts that we cannot fully control. It is best to store it in a private wallet which of course only we have access to. Bankruptcy will occur if we keep all the money or assets in an online account and the account website disappears and goes bankrupt, then our money will also disappear.

In addition to what everyone has comment about OP thread, i think we need to have a much clearer understanding of why some certain threads were pinned, this is to help everyone come across them easily whenever they are visiting a particular board and this will help not to go against the rules associated with the board, to me OP is just creating a repetition of what everyone is already aware of but nevertheless i think someone may be find it as a reminder.

I doubt users are more aware to read the reminders by visiting your site rather than the below profile, not all users are want to post or read in Beginners & Help board. However "not your keys not your coins" advice is has been repeated for a bunch times before Theymos put this warning, I think they're deserve to lose their coins since they're careless and don't care with be your own bank phrase.

Thermos is right to say that the contagion will spread accross other companies. Therefore, people should be in control of their funds. This is just the worst thing, the market has gone through difficult times; bitcoin dropped to 3k, Luna crashed which affected Bitcoin price, China banned Bitcoin, Celsius disputes etc, but this situation right here is unbearable. Companies that trusted investors money on FTX are facing hard times too. This bankruptcy not only did it affect FTX, it has ruined good businesses and the effect of it like thermos said will continue to spread out to other companies. The only remedy, is taking your funds out from any online company and save them in a wallet.

Everything that goes in that section is pinned on the news feed, so you don't really need to browse the section. If it's not pinned than it's obsolete.
If there's something important you will notice it into the news feed.

When I was a newbie, I could not remember that I ever checked Important Announcements sub.

I am sure that was kind of newbie mistake hence decided to make this topic to spread a word about theymos' important announcement which is definitely a today's need as per the scenarios going on in crypto space.
