thanks for the reply, ok, here is the configure output:

checking for zlibVersion in -lz... no
checking for z_zlibVersion in -lz... no
configure: error: zlib not installed

This is the problem: the configure program can't detect the zlib (compression library) or its headers. As it can't find it, it will fail to generate Makefile and you won't be able to build it.

Is zlib installed in your environment ? You should check in the mingw packager if you can install it (I'm not an expert of mingw32 ecosystem though, but it seems at some point you can, according to this stackoverflow post, and one of its answers)

hello guys,

in this topic https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/building-headless-bitcoin-and-bitcoin-qt-on-windows-149479 I am trying to follow all steps included. but I am stuck in step 2.6
it says the commands are:

cd /c/deps/libpng-1.6.16
configure --disable-shared
make
cp .libs/libpng16.a .libs/libpng.a

when I write make in Minsys shell it tells me:
"make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found.  Stop."

Do you have a "Makefile" (without .in or .am extension) file generated after "configure --disable-shared" ?

It seems you don't have it. Could you paste the last output lines of "configure --disable-shared" ?
Or push the config.log contents to somewhere like pastebin so someone can take a look ?

Quote
and when I put this command:
make -f makefile.in USE_UPNP=0
of
make -f makefile.am USE_UPNP=0

You can't use makefile.in or makefile.am to build, as they are files which will be used to build the Makefile, not the Makefile by theirself. They are not compatible with "make.

I tried many things but am still stuck. can anyone remove this frustration from my life.
