Yeah, good solution is to put the motherboards and their guts vertically with, if possible in one horizontal line with corresponding air ducts above them to direct the flow through duct with bigger inner diameter + good industrial/home appliance fan at the end. Putting small 140mm 2BB fans below the cards will ensure almost proper push-pull design. One of the major cons is that the fluid/el bearing fans of the cards/cpus will suffer faster from scratchy sounds - their axles can't sustain very well the horizontal position.

That's a dumb idea - the heat from the cards will be pushed down to the motherboard by those vents. Fix it!

Exactly. Ive always seen people put the fans on top of the cards, and I always though its dumb. The fans should be under the card, or at least on the sides. You pull the cold air from the bottom towards the cards and let the hot air go up, instead of pushing the hot air the cards are producing again towards the cards.

That's actually a very good design. One suggestion: I do not see a structural or functional need for four side-bars. Save some material, you'll still have plenty of rigidity with two (top & bottom) side-bars.

Not bad .. but if you use all reference cards, they intake on that one fan. Since I only have anoying cards that exhaust out the front and back, I havn't been able to test a setup with those cards. I would think you'd get heat moving better just moving air front to back, ie bunch of fans blowing in the 'front' of the case (where the power connectors are on the cards) out the back. Would also help if you stacked these on top of each other, no need to draw air in from the top of each one. You could even put a shroud over the entire front and feed an air conditioner into it or something to that effect..
Could also save a little space by stacking the PSUs verticaly also.


Yeah I will be having external exhaust cards so that would be the best placement for them I was just using the 5970 model so I could get the sizes for the bar in the back to be in the correct place. For the fans to blow air down onto the cards and have the fan in the middle blow it out to the left and to the right is the best bet.

Wow you made a stove miner, that's really cool. I would build a spice rack or a condiment holder into the frame in the empty space next to the burners. You could also hang some cooking utensils on the top rail, maybe even install an overhead exhaust system so it's like a hibachi/stove hybrid.

Lucky I'm quick to post because everyone will doubtless have the same idea as me, and I probably couldn't come up with something original to say!
