It totally makes no sense to me. Why fine him only $4,000 for stealing something that's worth over ten times? Roll Eyes
Why wasn't he charged the exact amount he stole? I read the article but I didn't see any clear reason.

I usually see judges handing out smaller fines than the amount is commonly known to be stolen, because they calculate it from attorney's fees and the cost it took the detectives, investigators, police and law enforcement to examine the case. It also adds up if more offenses are charged, or if the defendant pleads guilty.

In our country there is no case like that where people steals Cryptocurrency to others, usually fiat is involved but with the growing numbers of people using Cryptocurrency expect something like this to happen, there should be a set of laws about this in every country glad that Malaysian court understand Cryptocurrency.

Famous Malaysian actor Mas Khan who was featured in Abang Long Fadil 2 movie was fined US $4,000 (RM 17,000) or 26 months in jail by the Ampang Magistrates’ Court yesterday on two counts of stealing US $50,000 (RM 213,805) worth of crypto-currency wallet belonging to producer Datuk A. Aida.
