Can't you just make a transaction with stack including message?

Is this a stupid suggestion: MtGox could inlcude a signed comment with their own transaction id in every outgoing transaction. Wouldn't this prevent fraud?

The bitcoin protocol does not support comments in transactions.

hmm.. how have these 'public notes' made on these transactions?

I believe those are internal to the blockchain.info website -- not on the blockchain itself.

It also has the raw view of a transaction, here one that has a public note shown in blockchain.info
