Why did you invested on those projects? I am not saying that bitcoin don't affect the other coins prices but investing on ICOs are really risky it may fade away even if there is small dump in the market for longer run since these coins were just used for bump and dump purpose so if you bought it at ICO just sell when it listed or the prices will be in heavy loss like you faced.

The relationship I see about bitcoin being connected to altcoins is that, many investors are using bitcoin as their payment currency in exchange of the investment to initial coin offerings, in this case, if bitcoin falls, it affects the altcoins also.

Even ethereum was pegged to the bitcoin too and that creates the worst situation. Altcoin will increase if the bitcoin will increase too and then bitcoin as the main key in the cryptocurrency to create a huge jump. Crypto will not jump until bitcoin will do that.

It is true and it is not new knowledge.
It has been common knowledge in the field for many years that altcoin prices correlate strongly with Bitcoin price. If Bitcoin falls, altcoins usually fall. Yes, BTC does affect the price of everything else, and to a smaller extent, eth does too.

The reason is because btc is the only coin that can be easily converted to fiat/cash.
Almost all of the alts require that you either buy btc or eth first, then purchase the alt using the btc/eth.
There are some places where you can directly buy xrp and ltc with fiat, but they don't have much trading pairs with other alts.

So the worth of your alt is dependent on btc because when you wanted to sell your alt, you first convert it to btc then sell the btc.
That's why prices on coinmarketcap can be misleading.
To see the true value of your alts, you need to pay attention to how much btc it is worth.
Then, you have to see how much the btc is selling for in fiat.

yeah, coz of dumping, right now that is what's happening. I really wanna think right now that it is better to wait for exchanges before getting a crypto coin or token that you wanna hodl because you can get potentially pretty much lower price than the ico. But for me that's not always the case. Their is always give and take. Coz before, whenever an ico finishes and hit exchanges it sky rockets.
When you wanna sell make sure you wont regret it if the price goes higher. and when you wanna hodl, make sure you wont sell it if the price goes lower. That's it. Coz we can never know the future.

Unfortunately I am one of those people, this time last year I had so much money that it amounted to 10 times the minimum salary for a work I did in 10 days, right now I am working a whole month every single day without any day breaks and yet I am not making as much as minimum salary for the months work, I usually find some extra work thankfully and cover the difference and make a bit more but life became really hard when bitcoin fell.

I had some bitcoins but since I kept them as bitcoins they lost a lot of value and I lost a lot because of it. Now I have to grind harder and keep on making money and saving bitcoins in order to recover what I lost and get back on my feet. Bitcoin thankfully gathers everyone together like a tribe making world smaller so its easier to make money, while people are out there trying to make money with trading I have made more bitcoins thanks to working than many of them.

2018 is a big reason why you should only invest what you can afford to lose and you should do a research and to study the right time to invest and to exit, there are a lot of losers now but I'm pretty sure 2019 is a big turn around from what happened this year just like what a big turn around 2018 from what happened in 2017.

It is like the USD of all the altcoins while bitcoin is being converted always at a USD price.

You will notice it always. As bitcoin price goes up then same with ETH and other ERC20 tokens.
Both are leaninng with each other.

Now about those losses on ICO's, most of it is because they are not really investors. Investing takes time and it doesnt just end when the token is listed in an exchange. That is a trader's habit, not an investor.

A few days ago I read an article from my country that due to market crypto is getting worse and that make more unemployment. It reminds me that there are many traders who resign from their office and choose traders as the main profession. But for whales maybe financial can still be covered even if they loss because I'm sure they have a lot of strategy. That must be so worried about not them but small trader. We should be more thorough and careful invest in altcoin because if it fell then there would be no funds for backup from the bottom.

All altcoins follow bitcoin in general. That's because the whole market is still so dependent on it. I wouldn't say that maybe people have become poor because of BTC. If they were irresponsible enough to invest all their money in to something then they were going to become poor either way, if bitcoin didn't get them something else would. They became poor because of their own actions.
