When I was thinking about this in March/April this year I was honestly thinking about doing it like proper bounty system but with % of airdroped coins just to get more in popularity. Also, don't overdo on total supply.

Combination of both with actual TRACKING of what provides best results is the way to go. Just benchmark it aka split test everything and keep up with things that provide better results.

We dabbled with Airdrops and giveaways but there was an enormous amount of bots participating and it wasn't useful to us.
How about a proper bounty campaign? One that would include twitter, facebook, creative content campaign (youtube, blog posts, articles), and a signature campaign.

In order to eliminate (or greatly reduce) spam and bots, don't run the campaign on your own. Hire an experienced bounty manager. I've worked with some of them who have zero tolerance for spam.

I don't see much use of airdrops. I personally rarely take part in them. There is too much noise, with little or no real promotion for you.

What kind of marketing would you recommend to a new blockchain company? We dabbled with Airdrops and giveaways but there was an enormous amount of bots participating and it wasn't useful to us.

Anybody recommend a strategy besides airdrops or youtube videos?

There is actually none other
Airdrop bounties and giveaways are the most standard marketing for token projects
And there will always be bots; you just need a screening bot to fish out the bots and have them blocked too
