This video is the only exposure I've had at all with such a concept as paying a price for a bride. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMoo4NVPNZU
My father in law is in the hospital with a stroke, and I'm certainly feeling like my marriage to his daughter is much healthier. What happens when the bride bought isn't worth money that will last for an entire life and even eternity?
e

you are negative mindset.

so I say what happens when the bride is far better than you ever imagined and even if you paid 0.01 btc or 1000 usd at the time

in twenty years youn know she was worth 10btc or 1 million usd in 2025 money.

not sure what 3 million nairia is in usd 2025 money i will look it up

looks like 1920 usd

so he may need to pay 0.0190 btc in 2025 coin price
Thanks for your input and also noting that my wife to be could actually worth more than 10btc or 1 million usd. it is another point that could be looked back at and have a good smile.

Hello, Bitcoin family!

I don't know the best board for this post, whether bitcoin discussion or reputation board, mods feel free to move where appropriate.

My username here is "MarryWithBTC," and the name have a very special meaning. This year, by God’s grace, I plan to do something I think will make me remembered in Bitcoin history—I want to pay my bride price using Bitcoin!

Let me share the inspirations behind my decision.

My Father’s Story vs Today’s Reality:
My dad always tell us how he married my mum with just 50 naira back in the days. But today, if you want to marry a woman in Nigeria, you need to spend from 1 million naira to 3 million naira, depending on her tribe. That is like 20,000 to 60,000 times the naira’s value lost over the years!  Cry
Now, imagine I pay bride price with Bitcoin today, and some years later, Bitcoin price increase like it always do. That means, in the future, it will look like I married a whole queen with what the bride price worth!  Grin

Marriage With a Value to Look Back On:
In 20 years, me and my wife can sit down and look back at how much Bitcoin I used for the marriage. It will be fun to check how much that Bitcoin would be worth in the future. It will make the marriage even more special and memorable.

Regret or Excitement, I Want the History:
We all know the story of the guy who bought pizza with a lot of Bitcoin years ago. Well, I want to make my own history too. Maybe me and my wife will regret it or maybe we will laugh and be excited about it in the future. Either way, it will be our story!

First in Africa? Maybe!
So far, I haven’t heard of anyone in Nigeria or even Africa who paid bride price with Bitcoin before. If you have heard of it, let me know o. But for now, I want to believe I might be the first. Imagine my unborn children hearing that their father made history with Bitcoin. What a legacy!

A Wedding Anniversary Tradition with Bitcoin:
To make it sweeter, I plan to keep the wallet or address I used to pay the bride price very safe. Every year, on our wedding anniversary, me and my wife will check the price of Bitcoin. It will be a fun way to celebrate and remember our journey together.

The Journey Starts Soon!

This big step might happen anytime this year, maybe even before the end of March. I will update this forum about my progress, from the negotiations with her family to how the Bitcoin payment happens. I want to carry you all along with me on this journey.

Wish me luck as I prepare for this historic moment. And if you have any advice, ideas, or even jokes about this, please share them here. Let’s make this thread fun and engaging!

Maybe, after hearing my story, some of you will also consider marrying with Bitcoin!

Much love,
MarryWithBTC
