The idea that this has anything to due with bitcoin is just trying to tie every event to bitcoin, watch out this is how conspiracy theorist form, it was a chemical plant for some sort of production I am sure, not a bunch of S5's or you would see a large drop in the network.

and we did have a large drop in hashing..  so when did this explode?

We did

 https://blockchain.info/blocks/1439245792612

369161 to 369327 on aug 10 2015 -------- 167

https://blockchain.info/blocks/1439332192612

369328 to 369489 on aug 11 2015 -------   162

https://blockchain.info/blocks/1439418592612

369490 to 369615 on aug 12 2015 ------- 126    this is a really big drop

today we are not done yet

That would be VERY interesting if the two are related. I did not think there was a chance.  Guess give it a few day's and see.

Hopefully someone can provide more facts about explosion.  I'm sure this site being blocked in China does not help us getting first hand people who are there.  Makes it a pain for China users to get here vs a country that allows bitcointalk.

Probably still stretching things a bit, but it is possible that there was a Mine in the same area as the explosion & there was a power outage or they had to shut down?

and this makes the most sense if any btc farms had an issue I think it may have been not direct just temporary.

I say this because blocks bounced back  on 8-13-2015

39616 to 369762 =  147   which may mean a temp outage due to the explosion but that the gear itself was not directly affected

Where there is fire there is bitcoin explosion.

As far as news I truly hope it is not related to BTC.  This explosion hurt a lot of people, which is sad and bad.   The last thing BTC needs is to be tied to something killing people.

Looking at it I truly don't think it's BTC with the amount of explosion.   But I always could be wrong.

There was a post on this forum about using gasoline as a source of coolant for the C1 miners. That could lead to such explosion.

If they were using a syscooling pumps they would no doubt leak.  Only company that considered them self's to be water cooling company, yet dry tested a entire batch of pumps.  It is crazy to think, then tell people you might want to open up to clean plastic (batch 2 I believe on pumps), and plastic was from dry testing....

C1's were really hit/miss.   I think this is due to something else though or would have seen drop in hash with a explosion that big.

I love the C1.  Well water in and well water out...

Once replacing the syscooling gear yes it is a good miner.  I have one that is still working great.  But I guess I also have one that is having trouble, still need to see what to do with it eventually.

lol no I highly doubt it was a Bitcoin mine, it wouldn't explode like that but burn slowly. This explosion had to have had some accelerant or something, some chemicals or maybe even a bomb or something, there was a shockwave from it.

I don't see it being a bitcoin mine with the explosion I agree.  Only possible way it was a bitcoin data center is if it was shared warehouse and other part had something explosive in it.

I don't see anyone being that stupid personally on mixing explosive and lots of electricity.  So don't think btc.   But guess in next few day's we will know a lot more.

It was an explosion of explosives housed in a warehouse at the port.  It looks to possibly be a military storehouse so there could be other chemicals and such burning up as well.
thanx for those explainations Wink

I speculate that the explosion in this city is due to bitcoin mining.  Agree or disagree?

The state-run news agency Xinhua reported that an explosion tore through a warehouse storing "dangerous and chemical goods" in Binhai, an area of the city by the water.

Could this dangerous and chemical goods be the antminer C1 and S5?Huh
