The worse thing about unnecessary quotes is when it's done by one who's probably the first to reply to the post,to me that's crazy,we all know what exactly you're replying to as theirs been no prior message, but some people go ahead and still quote the entire topic..
Some members on the forum wouldn't just learn how to do things the right way

Oh gosh, this drives me nuts.      It is way worse on a photography forum I frequent.    People will quote a wall of text and have a one word reply.     Sometimes you have people arguing and quoting the entirety of their messages each time, so you end up scrolling forever.     I swear, a buncha people not knowing how to internet properly.

I  Strongly agree sometimes I get a headache when reading some thread with lots of quotes(and if the thread have images it's worse) and sometimes I end up abandoning the thread. There should be rules for this or a limit amounts of quotes that you can make

I don't think it's something wrong to reply in topic if author have negative trust score and he isn't active anymore
Definitely it isn't,who cares if the OP isnt active or has a red trust,a red trust definitely has nothing to do with how discussions should take shape on the forum, its simply a warning not to trade(deal)with such user...
As long as the topic is worthwhile and not redundant then it's definitely fine to join up in the conversations..
As for repeated quoting of an entire text, its not really necessary and can make the thread look unreadable..

Let's look at the bright side, whole point to the OP is quoting whole message is not a good habit to do as it only add the same message on another replies with the same content.

it's bad bad habit to quote original post. People who read that topic already saw first message, we don't have to repeat it with a full quote. But it's nothing wrong if you want to answer to specific part of message and you quote relevant part of message.
I agree with LTU_btc that you only quote a part of the message to reply and make it short like <....> if it is too long to make it more clean or less annoying. I'm sure that it will take more time to read someone's reply if there's lots of quoted replies that has long message in it.

I don't think it's something wrong to reply in topic if author have negative trust score and he isn't active anymore. Users don't have to check profile of topic author before replying to his topic.
About quoting. First of all, it's bad bad habit to quote original post. People who read that topic already saw first message, we don't have to repeat it with a full quote. But it's nothing wrong if you want to answer to specific part of message and you quote relevant part of message. What is really bad - full quotes with meaningless replies like "thank you". If you have nothing unique important or interesting to say - it's better to not reply.

Quoting a post without dropping any unique or helpful reply can be tagged as spamming and can constitute  a havoc to the thread in general

There even more simple and neater ways to quote some to quote someone by reducing the content and still pass the message that you someone was quoted. Rather than quoting a whole post

This rule I believe is very apt in this case;
1. Such posts like "SELL SELL SELL", "I agree", "+1", "Support", "Watching", "Interesting", "LOL", "SCAM", "LEGIT", "FAKE", other one word posts, posts consisting mostly of swearing, quote pyramids, useless introduction threads, threads about a topic already recently discussed in several other threads.

Thanks you, could easily be added to that list, as it adds nothing of value to the discussion. And can easily be abised by those who want to increase their post and activity without really contributing anything worthwhile to the discussion. And it's not allowed and should be reported wherever it's seen

It aslo includes quote pyramids, which makes drrails the quality in a thread, if not used properly.
This is most abused by bounty managers who request their hunters to quote social media submissions week after week.
It is also abused by some higher ranking members

The rule also covers redundant threads which has been discussed multuple times, so endeavour to use the search function before starting a thread.

Here is the Beginners & Help section, so “thank you”not being spam here. For beginners
If I didn't have anything to contribute on this thread,i'll simply read and not comment, even if I support what the OP states, I definitely wouldn't leave him or her an absurd "thank you".No matter what section it is, it's unnecessary and redundant..
The more people say "thank you", the more proof the thread is worth.
Wrong!!, I actually love reading @The pharmacist's replies/post,imagine if I left a redundant "thank you" to every of his post I come across, definitely I would be on the verge of a tempban if I do that...
In addition, sending merit to any post should depend on the quality of the post
Agreed!!
But it shouldn't be followed with redundant "thank you's"
Actually the most reasonable way to show you like a post, and wish to commend the OP, is to leave a merit which such poster..
And if one isn't loaded with Smerits, its best to say the thank you in your heart Grin

I can see someone(@OP),is actually joining@Jetcash's Campaign against redundant quotes...

I merited the OP for reinforcing an opinion that is held by many of the merit awarders here.

It is very rare that one needs to include a full quotation in a reply, and it is difficult to think of a situation where nested quotes are justified. At best, people just skip over the quote, and possibly miss the associated reply, at worst, they just leave the thread, so all the subsequent replies are a waste of the posters time, and don't get read.

Just imagine what a thread would look like if every new member posted a thank you. Clogging up the thread with redundant posts means that the reply count will be too high, and the thread may be considered as a spamfest, and Ignored by readers. A "thank you" by a new member who may not have read the post, or possibly doesn't understand the content, doesn't help the forum. Posting a simple "thank you" may lead other members to think that the poster is just a know nothing spambie - do you want to take that risk?

I must stand with the OP quoting a post with inconsequential reply really cause the post to look unattractive. And I also went through the post and guess it should be locked by the mods

Having a quick look at the OP profile it's noticed that the individual last active was October 27 and last posted on September 17 and has some negative trust with all this is not hard to decipher that the OP is either banned or does not have any interest in the forum there is no need dropping thank you after thank you messages.

...

Let's not contribute to spamming. before we drop a message let's do a little check on it and make sure it is right. It's not really much of a task

Don't you mean this? You have some kind of prejudice because OP is negatively trusted or banned.
And please explain the meaning of this sentence: "Let's not contribute to spamming", I think you are suggesting that OP is negatively trusted because its thread makes a lot of spams?
If I am wrong, please forgive me, this is just my guess.

Here is the Beginners & Help section, so “thank you”not being spam here. For beginners,  said “thank you” to that useful advices no any problem.
On the contrary, I don't think it is spam, and I don't think it will affect we reading thread. The more people say "thank you", the more proof the thread is worth.
In addition, sending merit to any post should depend on the quality of the post, regardless of who the OP is and whether there is negative trust. Merit is used to evaluate the quality of the post, not to evaluate someone.
Please don't equate merit to the evaluation of people, it is only for the quality of the post.

 Hello crypto hot heads.

There is actually nothing wrong with quoting message but when it is a being abused for some inordinate reasons(increasing post count, spamming e.t.c) can make a thread unattractive and sickening.

There are various post that has received quote abused but this particular one would serve as a reference

I must say the original post was quite a nice and informative post but with unnecessary quote replies  mostly all ending with "thank you" made the post lose quality. Having a quick look at the OP profile it's noticed that the individual last active was October 27 and last posted on September 17 and has some negative trust with all this is not hard to decipher that the OP is either banned or does not have any interest in the forum there is no need dropping thank you after thank you messages.
