this seems to be just an opinion, there is not enough convincing information such as information from the cointelegraph website or something like that. I'm also not sure that Mastercard has been able to move into the blockchain system that easily. It will reorganize their whole system

It's not just the MasterCard but even there are some banks who are testing blockchain technology to optimise their internal mechanism in order to compete with rapidly changing fund transfer industry. The blockchain is a technological innovation which brings the speed and transparency into the system and that's the reason why it is not just limited to finance sector but also we could use it in other sectors too. I am sure that we will see many companies using blockchain technology in multiple sectors in 5 to 10 years from now on a global scale.

Because they see this as a potential benefit to the company. It is right. I think that the rest of the companies will start taking the first steps towards the block chain soon.

I hope this become a great news and become catalyst for bitcoin and cryptocurrency. Its much better if master card issuing debit card with bitcoin deposit option and i am believe many people will use it
Its a good thing of course but hopefully its more on cryptocurrency technology and not a bank system anymore. Mastercard is a big company, and if more companies will adopt cryptocurrency this year expect the market to go up high. A lot of big companies are interested in blockchain technology, let’s see who’s next to speak about cryptos.

Currently there are a lot of big businesses who are interested in participating in crypto and the world is really paying attention to crypto.
it's really a great technology and it's indispensable in a modern world, it's blockchain technology. This investment is perfectly reasonable because the transaction speed and transaction fee of mastercard are still very high and slow compared to ETH or EOS, ...
In 2 or 3 years, you'll see a lot of other commercial businesses investing in crypto. Grin

There is huge competition in the electronic cash and digital payment methods industry. It is logical that they will try to find another way of making one step ahead of the competition and that will place them in No.1 rank among its competitors. I hope that more companies in this sector would do the same and push mass blockchain adoption to its max.

if im not mistaken there is already a credit card before that supports bitcoin . i read and see it on some websites before but i forgot its actual name .  mastercard might not be the first to suport crypto but many people will still trust it when compare to its other generic competitors  .   most importantly this can bring a positive effects to the current market situation  .

I hate these people who talk about bitcoin like it is something bad but than go out and get into blockchain.
Like blockchain is some sort of amazing new technology and bitcoin is the root of all evil. They are making their money thanks to people not using bitcoin and if all of the world started using bitcoin for sending money to each other or spending money all over the world than places like mastercard will seize to exist quite quickly, that is why they are trying to discredit bitcoin as much as they can and try to offer blockchain as a solution like they are two very apart things.

Blockchain IS crypto currency and will always be tied together, you get one with the other and not solo, if you like blockchain and want to invest into it that means you like the idea of bitcoin as well.

That's true, when bitcoin existed and started it's way to popularity, they are the first one to criticize but when it gains they want to jump it
and want to have a share on the entire pie. only shows that their words cannot be trusted, they are want to manipulate people but they will still focus on where the money is.
blockchain and bitcoin are different, nowadays many people think that both are the same, if mastercard invests on blockchain, it means that it's true they are investing in bitcoin, because blockchain is a system, while the investment tool is bitcoin. must be wise in responding to a news so that we do not fall prey

We do not need those companies to give credence to what the developers are doing, their blockchains are going to serve them only to themselves and we will be unable to see what they do with it and it is likely that anything they discover they will keep it private or they will try to get patents over their discoveries, so whatever they are doing that does not benefit us in any way.
You're right, MasterCard is trying to develop personal blockchain technology and even patent technology that is actually free to use and develop. But now I have not seen the development of the blockchain technology that they are using, whether it is effective or even a part of the centralization of the latest models.

Master card investing in blockchain does not mean much to the cryptocurrency world because blockchain is a wide rang of service network and cryptocurrency is just one of them. Why am making this point is what we witness in the cryptocurrency network where visa and MasterCard did not support cryptocurrency related transactions.

It is not only MasterCard but there are also other Banks that adopt to blockchains. But with these good news we see, it is still not good enough for another bullrun and we should still be patient on the current market.

Bull run is a result of manipulation by the whales. It cannot happen only with such positive news. That's the reason that we are still seeing low bitcoin prices even though bitcoin is more massively adopted as compare to last year. Bitcoin will pump only when whales will pump it.

Many institutions have a great interest in the blockchain, after all it is a great invention but they are not interested in blockchains that are free for everyone to use, banks are interested in creating private blockchains and that can be dangerous since the blockchain like any tool can be used for our benefit or against us, so they are probably trying to find ways to destroy it so they can kill this market while they still can.

If the news is reliable then it is very good. But honestly speaking, everything looks very suspicious, since a month ago I read news that Visa and Mastercard payment systems do not support the cryptocurrency market and do not intend to develop in this area.

They are not trying to develop cryptocurrencies per se but rather just the blockchain technology. It's quite common nowadays for financial institutions to tap on the power of blockchain, seeing that its use cases on their services would greatly speed up transactions and possibly improve security on their end. They're not the ones who wanted to employ such technology on their services as there are countless others waiting in queue for R&D about blockchain to put up significant results for their intended use cases.

Yes, agree. These established and known financial institution are very open to the blockchain technology. It is a must for them to keep in track with the newest technology. That is part of the business. They're thinking ahead of time, otherwise they'll be left behind.
Ripple has been working with banks longer than any other crypto currency, we are talking about how the ETF can change bitcoin so much and that banks will pour money into bitcoin investors will love etf and so forth but ripple has been doing something similar for years now promoting their blockchain to the banks and helping them setup a system of transactions for far cheaper.

Mastercard realized that their system of transaction is costing a lot more than it should and now there are rivals to their system and if they do not innovate they will be left behind and soon there will be crypto systems everywhere making their system worthless hence they need to innovate and use blockchain to drop their charges as well otherwise they will be dust. It is not a shocking news that they are basically improving their ways to catch up with the times.
You will see that eventually everyone will adopt blockchain, in one way or another. Bitcoin opened many doors, ripple is a new thing on the market, I earned a lot from ripple, I like them cause they are very active, and something always happening with ripple, you can read about it everywhere. Everything starts with adopting one coin, soon after that second coins comes, in the end everyone will use cryptocurrencies, my point is that its good to have bitcoin, its also good to have ripple, its awesome to have many cryptocurrencies in your portfolio.

If that news it true I think is a good news as many project now using Mastercard to their project in crypto maybe it will be big help for every one of us. And it's a nice step for Mastercard that they joined in blockchain.
How can we know that this news is valid or true? Is there any proof about this news? Actually i want only trust something that is announced by the actual team itself.
Well, i can see that many things on masterecard project can be improved with blockchain technology tho.

if i look at news side that has a good effect on bitcoin. with the news, it gives a good effect regardless of whether or not the news is true. but indeed i hope that the news is true, so that it has a real effect
The purpose of the news is to gather the important details and people will know how does it work. Well the most common side of the news is good side because it determine either a good effect of the action or not. At of this time it is always a specteculations we need to prove more effort on it.

What we are waiting for is only proof that that news it true or only valid news. But it is true if it will happen to then the effect of MasterCard that uses blockchain will be very good for all of us, and MasterCard users are very much in that case this will increase a lot of bitcoin users too and maybe it will be good news for all of us.
I'm not sure about this news, even though this is very wanted by bitcoin users. must remain realistic and hope for this kind of news next year. we have lost a few percent of our assets.

In a sense, blockchain is actually a very good technology for recording transactions and keeping track of any and every transaction across the world. It would also lessen fraud by KYCs and AMLs among other ways to protect customers. Besides, more investments on blockchains means more innovations on it in the future.

It looks like MasterCard is interested in Bitcoin. If MasterCard has started implementing blockchain technology then it will make it easier for us to credit and pay it with bitcoin. And this could motivate some countries that ban bitcoin by looking at news like this.
I think mastercard is not interested in Bitcoin, but actually in blockchain technology. Perhaps the MasterCard is preparing to use some kind of completely new currency about which we still do not know.

Times are changing for companies. Sometimes the decision or policy of a company is largely dependent on the people running it at the time which could change any minute the moment the board no longer trust the management and decides to bring in fresh blood. When this happen, the same thing they castigated, might be the very best alternative cause of action which is why I am always skeptical about news on how companies are saying or positioning some negatives about blockchain or crypto currency.

However, this should not be mistaken for their support for crypto because they are two separate things and its the one that is promoting their own objective they are likely to be receptive towards.

Initially, everyone was against it, but ultimately everyone will come to the blockchain.

No, not everyone is against blockchain. Actually banking system loves this technology because the way it can change their system for the better. It can really improved business wise that's why everyone is getting on-board with this technology.

Mastercard can really take advantage of blockchain by looking at how it can improved the processing of its transactions, from approval to actual charges to the card owner. So i'm not gonna be surprised but this moved at all, it all makes sense at operations and business point of view.

In fact, the blockchain makes transactions more secure so it makes financial sense as to why financial companies are investing into it.
It makes the top crypto currency transactions more secure, definitely not the transactions within the legacy financial system. They are all centralized remember? Their security model is reversing and blocking transactions.

If banks are as greedy as they have always been, they won't even allow the customer to enjoy the efficiency gains they booked by adopting the blockchain technology. They are the rats Bitcoin (the rat poison) is meant to combat.

Banks could technically already operate partly on private blockchains. They could easily continue saying for years that they are researching and investing in blockchain tech, just to not allow you as customer to benefit from that advancement.

Considering many Bitcoin buyers already use VISA or Mastercard credit cards and debit cards, it is not such a surprise to see MasterCard adopt the blockchain. In fact, the blockchain makes transactions more secure so it makes financial sense as to why financial companies are investing into it.

I wouldn't put it against every single bank, and payment processing company to invest in the blockchain in some way.

It looks like MasterCard is interested in Bitcoin. If MasterCard has started implementing blockchain technology then it will make it easier for us to credit and pay it with bitcoin. And this could motivate some countries that ban bitcoin by looking at news like this.

They're not the ones who wanted to employ such technology on their services as there are countless others waiting in queue for R&D about blockchain to put up significant results for their intended use cases.
I agree because I know that Visa and Mastercard doesn't even care to support cryptocurrency by now or in the future but what is interesting here is that they are adopting blockchain technology because they already know the advantages in it just like having faster transactions, security and other related features that gives users convenience and of course it will save much time  and effort.

Good for mastercard in using blockchain in their business. This just shows that blockchain, although frowned upon as just a buzzword by a lot of people, is actually already spreading in a lot of businesses as it is actually a good technology that could be used not only in cryptocurrency.

That is a very nice development and that is more reason I think cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology will rule the future.  If big companies like master card will come in then I believe other financial services providers are going to come in.  The future is very bright and all we need to do is to key to it as one of the early adopters.  If you follow the unfolding event you will agree with me that cryptocurrencies is the future.

There is a difference between looking for ways to provide better services and investing. Most of us already knows that Microsoft works hand to hand with some exchanges/Blockchain wallet providers in providing services for debit cards, and that’s a normal thing which they do everywhere there is a such services just like PayPal. So that doesn’t mean they are investing, they are only after their own gain.

If the news is reliable, then it is very good. Recently I read that even Elon Musk would like to introde the crypto to buy a Tesla.
All this makes us think of a wonderful future, and people should not be afraid to invest in crypto-currencies
Whether reliable or not, this will not have much to do with the crypto space, and so far I am sure the position where MasterCard stands with cryptocurrency is glaring and they have said recently that until there is a large room where the space is pretty big, before they will end up seeing how they can integrate payment of crypto with cards but who really cares.

What they are trying to do now is to see how blockchain is going to benefit them in terms of development, or should we say they are probably trying to look into the future and how they will be able to make any form of integration easier.

Mastercard hates bitcoin (understandable) and keeps talking about how bitcoin is the money of criminals and it is spending so much energy and so forth always trying to find something to say bad about bitcoin and crypto in general but they LOOVE blockchain.

Blockchain is here thanks to bitcoin, they are one and together, without crypto currency you will have a worthless token based on blockchain creating a false chain that could be erupted or hacked or basically changed the way anyone wants because it is easier with a %51 attack taking control of the coin itself. If you do not want that to happen you need hundreds of users at least if not thousands to make sure your blockchain is ran properly with a peer to peer connection making sure each chain is unique and not tampered with.

Actually, looking at the article shared https://www.xmlgold.eu/en/news/article/769/mastercard-blockchain/ MasterCard is about to get a patent for managing partial reserves of digital assets which in this case we can classify as cryptocurrency. It was also mentioned in the article, that Accordingly, the use of traditional payment networks and payment system technologies in conjunction with cryptocurrencies on the blockchain can provide consumers and merchants with the advantages of a decentralized blockchain, while maintaining the security of account information and providing reliable protection against fraud and theft, so in a lot of ways, what they are really trying to look at is more like the integration of MasterCard and cryptocurrency as a form of payment.

MasterCard has actually been attempting this for a while now, even though sometimes, I really do not like the action they are taking towards things, although it is understandable that they will still want to be taking some precautions anyway, considering that it is a new space.

It has always been a welcome development, considering that they have the infrastructure to at least make the usage of cryptocurrency be something of a reality in the real life, and looking at the fact that they are making an effort to tap into the market that is growing everyday will most definitely be for their own good as well.

I'm waiting for the day that one of the current financial institutions will compete with Ripple in offering blockchain and database solutions. It boggles my mind that Ripple has managed to gain this much ground.

How much effort is there needed to just fork them and do the exact same thing? It's common within crypto itself, but apparently a whole lot harder to do outside the crypto world.....

Overall, it doesn't surprise me at all that more players are digging into the blockchain industry, especially when you take into consideration that the hype around blockchain technology is still going strong despite crypto being a bad performer.
It really boggles my mind as well, but I am sure they would not have much to go far before we would start seeing that become a reality actually. Nonetheless, we know the rate at which a lot of organizations and companies are beginning to tap into this space, shows that a lot of them are gradually seeing the great benefit they are going to tap from this space in the long run and that is one thing that I am sure in the long run more will keep coming. It is good to actually see MasterCard trying to make the effort to at least provide some solutions which would create some kind of symbiosis in the long run anyway, benefiting all sides.

The good thing for Mastercard is it has already the reputation and the system (card+Merchands). There a lot more players in the field, but since they don't have to announce it publicly we don't hear about a lot of them, but in reality, they all have their R&D working on.
JPS Morgan has created its own token blockchain (Aurora) for example, but it's a coin that targets mainly enterprises and not the average Joe.

Visa's CEO actually very recently said that they would be willing to get in the middle of cryptocurrency payments should the demand be large enough. There's really no ideological reason for them not wanting to be involved in crypto, they simply just don't think they can make money off it yet. Nothing they decide on this issue will be set in stone.

But yeah, try Googling banks and blockchain and read up on the subject. They have quite the love affair. One thing that must be stressed is that blockchains aren't necessarily related to cryptocurrencies.

If that news it true I think is a good news as many project now using Mastercard to their project in crypto maybe it will be big help for every one of us. And it's a nice step for Mastercard that they joined in blockchain.

I was developing a project to help identify users behind an e-wallet (with user's approval), thus making the Blockchain a more safe environment and enable governments and banks to accept it as a standard.
Problem is that a month later I started my project, Master Card already applied for a patent for exactly the same thing! Anyway, I wish good luck to Master Card Smiley
