Keep an eye on REMME. They have a brilliant project backing their token which is in area of online data security. They are expected to launch their masternode in Q3, 2018. The project is expected to be a success in long run because online data security is gaining popularity nowadays because of increasing threats and hacks.
Dear Community,
I would appreciate your time sharing your knowledge about masternode and what are the upcoming altcoins which have masternode. This is my simple analogy on Masternode. It is like you take a specific amount of coins and commit them to the network and you run some software that helps the network. In return, you get a reward. I think there is a lot of incentive for people to own these coins and if the services the developers hope to build on top of them take off, well.. the sky is the limit. You also get rewarded for waiting, and it reminds me of mining, except that you do not need an amazing computer to do it. Some coins also offer staking, where you can generate return just for running the wallet.
Some of the common masternode altcoins are DASH NEM PIVX

I think masternodes are going to plat a big part in the future investment and technology of crypto.
They offer a reward for hosting a node but you have a responsibility to keep that node running.

thats only true for those legit projects. most of them fall under crap, scam, get-rich-quick scheme category. create a coin with MN feature, sell in discord channel, disappear...repeat

Yeah I think so but I think this would be great passive income for people who cannot afford to buy physical mining rig. I would say that this is more profitable than mining because of the expensive cost of running a mining farm.
