Well i managed to edit and clone PIVX and build it for linux with a QT wallet deamon and CLI....

I done it on Ubuntu 14.04 but im still having trouble compiling the windows -qt.exe hitting alot of errors at every angle.

I followed all the edits in step 4 on this post - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/coin-cloning-guide-1115063 changing the ports, the name of the coin etc etc
When i have a full working way to compile the windows wallet i will post.

how to clone pivx?

Hi Madscotslad!
I also newbe in crytpo programming however with many years experience in software development business.
I'm looking for an info to start own cryptocurrency with masternodes support. I'd like to clone PIVIX from Github.
Did you make progress in that area yet?
How your ezperience grow since your last post?
best regards

I have many many leaps and bounds and even more sore heads over this journey but have not given up, im working on cloning PIVX tonight if it all goes well i will let you know the steps i took.

Have a look at topic https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/coin-cloning-guide-1115063 it helped me get on the right path and learn how to find the code i needed to change and i managed to successfully get a POW alt coin up and running with it and hashed my own genesis block etc so its a great post to start with.

I will keep you posted.

Bitcoin does not feature MN's. Most of the MN altcoins are based off DASH... So, I'd suggest you start there.

Also, if you browse through the Altcoin Annoucement threads (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.40) look for the threads with "Masternodes" in the title...

You'll be able to compare their code base with DASH to pretty quickly find how it has been modified to become a "custom" coin.

Hi everyone,

Im Scott a "Newbie" to the blockchain and crypto coin but a master programmer in several areas (not this one yet Tongue)

I already have forked/cloned the bitcoin chain and compiled my own wallets for linux windows android etc and the coin and network run really well Smiley

However i have been asked to look into setting up a coin for a local community cause but this time with masternode functionallity, i am unsure what coin is best to clone so far i see PIVX and DASH seem to be the leaders in this area but i wondered if Bitcoin had the masternode features?

If not what coin would be a good coin to clone and run locally as a test to learn and understand the masternode functionallity?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
