It's got 6 gb of ram, intel 4000 hd graphics (that's what sucks the most) running windows 7 and it's an i3.

It's seriously the worst computer, I can't even run games on it. I don't know why people are selling computers like this now claiming they are the "next best thing" it's like a mid level almost there computer that sucks.

plus its got the basics there all you need is a good $60 GPU and maybe a new power supply and its a decent spec gaming rig

Yeah I'm having more and more trouble with computers from places like best buy and walmarts they seem to think paying 400+ dollars for a computer is worth it. This computer would probably be way less than that.

And yes, my mom pays but I don't know how much she pays per whatever. She doesn't let me know her business we don't have a great relationship

Your mom is paying electricity It's not free. Sadly the specs you mentioned not worth the electricity to mine.

Mining is still a viable option to earn money. The only thing that has changed is that now you need to invest a lot more money into it for it to be profitable.

Could be because some are just into cloud mining. I happen to be just one of them. It may not be just as profitable with a hardcore hardware but seem good to see bitcoin earnings without doing something.

It's not always about getting more coins. If Bitcoin mining becomes largely centralized, then the security of the Bitcoin protocol may be compromised, which can cause an immediate devaluation of all existing Bitcoins. Most miners only care about making a profit, which is completely understandable. However, having a single coin worth something is infinitely better than having a constantly increasing supply of coins worth nothing.

To truly mine you need to get decent miner and have cheap electricity, or good hosting. Some still do gpu mine.... but for me it was no longer profitable moved onto next generation machines.

If your talking about one normal computer like I think you are your chances at mining being more profitable then electric/cooling are slim.

It may not be profitable to mine Bitcoin, but the network needs to stay distributed and needs to handle the user transactions. If it didn't then those 10K Bitcoins I'm sitting on would be useless (OK more like 6 BTC Wink

Unless it's for altcoin that just started out or low difficulty?
It's almost useless to mine for bitcoin unless you can fork out thousands of dollars for a special unit to do it, get a botnet, etc. I mean what are the most profitable altcoins to even start with?
I like the idea of the one pool that's trading coins to blackcoin since that seems to be pretty popular from what I've seen but really what is the use? The only way to get bitcoins it seems now is to buy them outright sell your services or do a sig campaign.
