I have about 1.75G/hashes.

2x 5830's in one rig.

2x 5850's in another.

4x 5830's in another (50/50 ownership with a friend).

no one else? looks to me like someone bought 80k of btc on mtgox http://bitcoincharts.com/charts/mtgoxUSD sometime recently, imagine what 80k of mining equipment could generate in a year.

yea the scene is pretty awesome, I would love to get involved. I'm going to watch the difficulty and price of btc. If they are increasing at a reasonably similar rate, (ie profitability remains the same) I'm going to sink some money into my first dedicated mining rig.

The plan is to use mining money to buy mining gear and not profit from it until it grows beyond my control. It would be nice to have some income while I get my PhD in math. That 2700 from before should get me a 2100 Mh rate yielding net;

                      Coins      Dollars
per Day              ฿8.65    $61.43
per Week   ฿63.08    $447.90
per Month   ฿263.01    $1,867.37

under current market conditions

anyone else with some huge powaaaa??? this is a measuring contest after all!

edit: also is this still legit at all? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Total_bitcoins_over_time.png

ive got three gpu's in my rig
a 5870 - 410 m/hash
2 x 6870 - 305 m/hash each

for a total of over 1 g/hash

last week I mined 35 BTC

Of course I am a pc guy to begin with so I am always buying hardware and building up my rig
but right now im making about $250 a week mining, and It's a very cool scene to be involved in.

I love it.

I was just thinking with the rises in difficulty the way they are, one had better put their money where their mouth is if they're going to make any mining

The biggest single user I've seen (Not that I've been looking very hard) appeared to be hashing with power equivalent to 68 6990s. It's hard for me to imagine anyone building an operation of the size you're describing but who knows.

It's a shame I didn't hear about BTC earlier. I had/have an entire room full of hexcore Nehalem blades that I was just looking for a cause to throw their cycles at (I ran F@H on them for a bit) that would have put up some serious numbers in the days before GPU mining.

Alright, something simple for a new user. I recently discovered bitcoin and mining. I'm weighing my options if I should mine or buy. Because of economies of scale, one does better with large operations. So what is the largest solo mining operation anyone has ever seen? 2 Thash/s? 3? Just curious;

also I did some math and cart making,
 the cheapest machine i could get away with building in parts to support 3 6990s would cost $2700

 to make 1 Thash/s you would need about 477 of them representing about $1.5M after the place and all the setup for the machines.

 this is pretty unreasonable, so is there anyone operating near the 500 Ghash mark? 750 K investment?

just curious
