Most of them are pump & dump schemes where the devs & VC’s at startup/mint/premine end up making a lot of money, often at the expense of others when they rug pull.

You can make a lot of money with them but mostly only if you get in early. Unfortunately most people are laggards & only buy once a viral, social media craze starts. By that point it’s usually too late.

Just be careful out there.

Memecoin e.g. dogecoin is created without any developmental plans to use for the long term but just for hype let me explain further.

Dogecoin for instance was created as a joke,  so the probability is there that there was no intention for it to go beyond a short period and all to cash in on the hype at that time,  but now that dogecoin has gained popularity investors are now rushing into it by starting large amount to benefit from the joke if it got sold out.

But Ultimately meme coins are just gambled and for short-term speculations, since there is no mechanism to propel further development or an ecosystem where their fit in.
