I got my best hashrates with a 280 mem clock instead of 300, but YMMV

Ive been considering running different core speeds definitely GPU 2 that has the overheating issues.
Toms hardware did an article on the 5970 vrm's cooking themselves due to inadequate cooling compared to gpu1.

Will Try 900 and 850 tonight.
Actually, they would be labled GPU 0 and GPU 1, with multiple cards that could change. GPU 1, or core 2, is usually 3C hotter than GPU 0 so set fans and or temp target based on GPU 1, or core 2. Also note that in CGMiner you designate a core with comma separated values, so --gpu-engine 900,850 core 1, GPU 0, would be @ 900 and core 2, GPU 1, would be @ 850 engine clock. Hope this clarifies some what.

voltage 1082mW
core speeds: 850
71c and 73c. (fan at 74%).

pulls a nice solid and stable 740mH.

Scored another 5970 on ebay for $300aud and ordered the required pcie extenders etc Cheesy

1. Stop using Java, especially on W?ndows.
2. You have 2 GPU's in a 5970, find out which one is crashing the system and only downclock it. 900engine/300memclock is a normal mining setting for 5970's.
In CGMiner you can --gpu-engine 900,850 --gpu-memclock 180,260 Wink CGMiner can use Daiblo kernel with -k flag. WinkWink I think there are 5 various kernels in CGMiner.
3. The Asus P8x67 M-Pro mATX has 4 PCIe slots. Geeks.com just sold out of them @$66+Free shipping.

ok will play with cgminer again.

That mboard would of been sweet.
Just bought another 2nd hand 5970 off ebay for $300 AUD (another great score) and 3 pcie 1x risers and 1x pcie 16x riser.
If all goes to plan I will be running 4 5970's in a months time with a hopeful mH rate of 3000mH (4x750mH).

I read this as MicroElectroMechanical Systems (mems)

Maybe Mem's would be more accurate.

Nice rig, what voltage allow you to get your 5970 this high ?

1100 iirc (will confirm when I get home today).

Might have to wind it back down to 850Mhz as it stopped mining today.
Started at 880Mhz last night after getting ~30hours stable at 850Mhz.

will update with voltages etc tonight.

using a spare pc that has ram issues (only 1 out of 4 slots detects).
1gb of ram
1 pci-e 16x, 3 pci-e 1x Cheesy
sapphire 5970 (scored for $250AUD)
laptop hdd (save some power)
windows 7

gpu's @ 880mhz (stock 725mhz), memory at 505mhz (lowest the msi tool allows).
core temps 59c & 72c stable.
fan speed @ 99% (loud).

averaging 768mH (slushpool)

using diablo with the following options:

Code:
java -cp target\libs\*;target\DiabloMiner.jar -Djava.library.path=target\libs\natives\windows com.diablominer.DiabloMiner.DiabloMiner --url http://mem.miner1:[email protected] -v 2 -w 256 FASTLOOP=false AGGRESSION=13

tried cgminer, seemed much slower than diablo for myself.

Ive spent the last week doing some industrious googling etc and managed to find a store that still sells 5970's new for ~$380 AUD, seems plausible to expand this pc to at least 4x5970's perhaps do another 2 pc's.

If anyone has stable old 5970's they want to unload, pm me Tongue
