It's very hard to earn especially to those commoners unlike those people that has friends here on this forum who are on higher rank here are the only eligible to earn merit.

if you think 1K is not doable, then you can count how many members who have done it.

Some will grow up and take responsibility, while some will blame the world for their own failure.

I don't care if it's not allowed here but suck that merit system. It's very hard to earn especially to those commoners unlike those people that has friends here on this forum who are on higher rank here are the only eligible to earn merit.

Also there are many users here that uses multiple accounts but they don't even ban them. Suck this kind of management.

Well getting merit points is easier for some and harder for others. I am not a fan of the merit system (because is far from perfect), but since I like the simplicity of the forum and there is a lot of things you can learn in here from the more experienced users, I decided to stay and accept it as it is. If you can't accept the conditions of this forum, there is no point for you to stay, there are plenty of crypto related forums out there where there are less restrictions. I am not saying this because I want you to leave the forum, but (like I always do) if a place/person/thing doesn't make me happy, I just leave/break up/change it. Peace!

Why did you complain before doing something, new post 2, you have not given anything meaningful in this forum and for bitcointalk members.

Complaining, accusing, prejudiced, against an unfair service system, it will make you crushed feeling depressed.
My advice, for you quite a lot of opportunities and opportunities to post like this:
1. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.52894190
2. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/fillippone-merit-source-application-5195299

With you have optimized the post as above you will easily get Merit.
Have a good fight. Don't complain and beg. (Try hard that's right).

Well,
I have been summoned by Micgossens.
Yet another alt of someone complaining about merits.
This is a double disappointment: firstly because I wouldn’t expect to deal with alt of someone. If you aren’t adult enough to take your responsibility on a pseudonymous forum, well, you should grow a little bit.
Secondly, merit system is manageable Micgoosens made a good example why.
I think I wrote my experience with merit system here.

Hope you can find inspiration from that thread.

People like me, fillippone, VB1001, corrosive, anonymousminer, d_eddie, goldkingcoiner and I can keep going .... are all members came later on the forum and you will just as us have to deal with the system, if you don't like it then don't participate, if you do participate and write good post, act kind towards other users etc then that will be noticed.... But being new are an ALT-account b*tching about the way things work will not help you...

These are the rules of the forum, like them or hate them.. You can just post this and go away and come back again in few months, post another merit impossible thing. Or you stay here, write some average good posts and you will be able to attract the attention and get merits. The choice is yours.

Odd that you're writing this post from a brand new account.  I'm assuming you have at least one alt account.

I don't know how new you really are to the forum, but the merit system was implemented for a very good reason, i.e., to combat garbage spam shitposts.  By the beginning of 2018 the situation was out of control, with account farmers, alt accounts, and members in signature campaigns all making as many shitposts as they possibly could.  There needed to be a mechanism by which the worst members wouldn't be allowed to rank up, to decrease the incentive to keep making nonsense posts.

That's why the merit system exists--but I understand your frustration, believe me I do.

It's really not that hard to earn merit to be honest.
I tend to disagree, but it really depends on which sections you're posting in.  Even if you make great posts in Bitcoin or Altcoin Discussion, they probably won't earn any merits.  If you make them in Meta or Reputation or in the technical sections, there's a better chance--but the posts still have to be well above average.

LOL you're the kind of people who can't accept challenges, and for a guy talking about multiple accounts yet just joined 3 months from now and has only 2 posts, you are surely a knowledgeable one for a newbie rank or you still have an alt of a Newbie or a Jr. member and that sucks you because you can't rank up because of just posting some POA and bounty reports?

Well, you have to step up instead of crying and just hating the system that is the path for lesser spam in the forum you have to work for it, don't waste that internet connection, I've been through that situation as well but instead of hating it I challenged myself how will earn it, how can I get it, where are the best boards to post to, who are the users I will emulate to get that "suck" merit you are hating of, at least let those questions pop up on your coconut shell and if nothing ever comes and just pure negativity then expect you'll be fastened with that rank even for over a decade.

I created it in order to help young members to earn merits for good quality posts, specially for the people who can't speak English well and don't feel comfortable to write posts in English part of the forum.
Basically, if you write good quality posts, you will receive merits.
We already have users who started from zero and now they are already legendary.

This is why merit system was implemented. Just don't think on how you will be able earn merit as its ironic in someway.

I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
 - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.

Before this post, you only made one post in this forum which also happens to just be a one liner and you expected to earn some merit? Really?
Your attitude is exactly the reason you may take long to earn your first merit.

Try to spend your time in the forum, discuss with members constructively. You actually don't even need to be too technically gift to earn merit here.

The merit system is a doorway to higher ranks, and a way to gain additional benefits from participation in the forum community. If you don't like it, then just close the door quietly behind you on your way out.

<…>
This thread will likely be moved to Meta (although there are often threads on the topic in Beginners & Help too).-> done.

It is not difficult to earn a few merits – it is to earn a lot of them though, and scale through the ranks. To earn a few, one simply needs to post, and try to make the content meaningful, straying away from rhetorical answers or comments. The "where" you post is also meaningful (i.e. posts added to mega-threads are less likely), but the main driver is content.

Taking a look over the last couple of weeks, there are roughly between 80 and 100 new merited profiles each week (https://public.tableau.com/shared/2XWGX9HJG?:display_count=yes&:origin=viz_share_link). That is kind of an all time low here, but the number of net posts being created has also decreased in the same period of time, so there may be a relationship there.

Historically, nearly 15K members have made it to Jr. Member at least, needing merits to do so (see https://public.tableau.com/shared/668X4RJRK?:display_count=yes&:origin=viz_share_link), so it doesn’t really seem like a buddy thing to me (in general terms).

What do you mean by commoners? users with smerits can give merit to those who deserve it. it has nothing to do with being a friend with someone. anyone no matter what the rank, is eligible to earn merits
if he/she deserves it.
Also there are many users here that uses multiple accounts but they don't even ban them. Suck this kind of management.
well, it's not illegal to have multiple accounts. although abusing bounties, signature campaigns, giveaways by using your alts can get you a neg trust but I'm not sure if it's gonna get you banned
from the forum.

Just focus on what you are doing, just give your best to make your post constructive and don't expect it to give you merit! Join in the discussions and post meaningful and relevant lessons from our fellow members. I am sure you will be given merit!
Also you have no activity yet how do you get merit if you yourself are not active in the forum!
the account is most likely an alt of someone(given that the account was made in July and only has 2 posts so far) having a hard time earning merits.

You can get merit by trying to make a very creative / good content / post
if not you can help answer other people's questions, if your answer is good and can be accepted by the question maker, maybe you get merit from him.

I do understand your frustration with the current merit system all members must go through to make a higher rank in this forum. and I am sure you are not alone with your disappointment. However, we have to understand why the Merit is implemented, in the first place. This way the forum is allowing the community to be involved in ranking other members, the only thing is that with the freedom to give merits some members are not using it well but that is already prerogative and not ours.

The best way to get merit is to post a higher-than-normal content and that can mean giving more focus on quality. Quality to me is always contributing something that other members can also pick something from and done in a way that all members can understand and emphasize. A post does not need to be that long as long as it is conveying a good information and idea.

It's really not that hard to earn merit to be honest. You can earn merit even if your knowledge is just slightly higher above beginner-level. It's just that a lot of people don't even want to spend a bit of time into doing a bit of reading and research. 🤷

Also, if you think people with "friends" are the only ones who earn merit, then that's simply false. How do you even know that a certain pair of people here are friends? All I see are just excuses from lazy people who just wants money without exerting a bit of effort.

Also there are many users here that uses multiple accounts but they don't even ban them. Suck this kind of management.
If a user has been proven to have multiple accounts on campaigns, they're simply blocked from joining campaigns. And that has happened a lot of times already.

Also, requesting a move to the Meta section
