Just a few comments on the above table:

-   The number of merits within each subgroup for 2021 is a tad short. I think it’s because the link you used (I figure it was https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/ddmrddmr/viz/shared/W2GC7J77B) did not have the time properly adjusted on my behalf to 23:59:59. It displays 02:27:00, thus not accounting for most of the 31/12/2021. You can manually adjust the time on the top slider by clicking on the date and manually feeding the time if need be.

-   I’m not sure how you derived the unique Senders (givers) for 2021. It seems like the max of the values for the broken down charts per month, but not always. I’ve derived the aggregate distinct data for 2021 to be as follows:

Code:

Here is the data sorted 2 different ways.  All 2021 included
I’m hoping I pulled the data correctly, so waiting for double checks here.
Unique merit givers: I found monthly data, so I picked the month with the most unique people, which means there may have been more people giving merit in that sub then stated here.

Blue are Bitcoin subs
Green are local channels
Yellow are Meta and other
Orange is Altcoin
The NO column is from the original post, it is the ranking by total number of posts in that subgroup.

The first chart is the average amount of merit given for every 100 posts in that subfolder.
Meta is the leader, with 84 merits per 100 posts.
As stated before, the  Altcoin (mining) is just 1.33 per 100.

If you have a desire to rank up, it will be very hard on Bitcointalk.org to do so as an Altcoin poster.

The second chart is sorted by subgroup type and then merit/100 within that grouping.

I think you can get more information here ---> https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/ddmrddmr/viz/BitcointalkMeritDashboard and you can ask @DdmrDdmr If what you are looking for is not there.
But why are you interested in knowing how much merit a subgroup generates? Do you want to be a merit source or try to post in  subgroups with higher Merits (possibility of getting more merits).

Thanks hugeblack, _Blackstar and DdmrDdmr,  those links were exactly what I needed.

Back in September/October I decided I would distribute my hoard of sMerits (about 28 I think).
I'm an ethereum miner, and convert to Bitcoin for holding.  So I decided to stick with Altcoin mining.  Yes, I am one of the unwashed.

My rules were:
-people under Legendary (already at the pinnacle, right?)
-anything somewhat intelligent
-someone helpful.

It isn't so easy to give away merit in the altcoin world when you have so few, you tend to think too much about it.

Turns out there are a dozen or so of the same people with the majority of the 'meritable' posts, a few under legendary.  I never did completely give away everything.  But I noticed (I though I noticed), that nobody really was getting merited by anyone).

I read the post yesterday that the majority of posts on this site are from altcoins.

I also read that the posting levels on Bitcointalk.org are declining  ( I don't know if that is true, just what i have read).

So I was just wondering, where are merits generated (subforums), and how many people are in those subforums actively giving away merits.  Is anyone in altcoin rewarding 'good' posts.

Thanks to your link and others below it, I did get the data I wanted.

In the Meta category (19,349 posts) in 2021 there are 84.18 merits awarded for every 100 posts.
In the Altcoin Mining category (131,342 posts) in 2021 there are 1.33 merits awarded for every 100 posts.

I didn't have an ulterior motive, but I think Altcoins need more merit givers.

I'm still working on the numbers and will post them

You can see most of that information on the Merit Dashboard (updated weekly), although not in a single cumulative table. For example:

- To see the unique number of Merit Senders (givers), take a look here:

https://public.tableau.com/views/BitcointalkMeritDashboard/MeritSendersReceivers?:language=es-ES&:display_count=n&:origin=viz_share_link

Bear in mind that the trailing month is the running month, and is incomplete. You’d need to filter by "subsection", on the right hand side, to delimit the data to a particular board. The data is also broken down by month, and I don’t have a historical aggregate there per year.

- The total number of merits per board can be seen above, but also in tabs such as:

https://public.tableau.com/shared/W2GC7J77B?:display_count=n&:origin=viz_share_link
https://public.tableau.com/shared/PTR35MHMN?:display_count=n&:origin=viz_share_link

The latter provides a historical aggregate overview per board, but it can also be delimited in time by using the filters.

- The number of posts per board can be seen here:

https://public.tableau.com/shared/4NTG58KZ2?:display_count=n&:origin=viz_share_link

Nevertheless, the data is broken down by month, and not rolled-up by year. Additionally, the count is derived from the Forum Stats (comparing data between months), but moderation on retrospective months will affect the results, especially if it’s heavy as is in the Russian local board, to the point of being unreliable or even not depicting reality. Ninjastic space could be a better source for post counts, although I’m not aware how it deals with deleted posts and threads.

OP, I'll try to help you. But I don't have much time to make the chart for you. I will just post an image with a little description for merit distribution during 2021 [January 1 - December 31, 2021].

The number of merit shared during 2021 on the forum is 1,081,576. The following is the total number of section calculated.

The image below follows the order of the points below. Please note that I am doing calculations from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021 with the help of the Merit Dashboard.

1. Bitcoin Discussion & Child Board
2. Economy & Child Board
3. Other & Child Board
4. Delleted
5. Alternate Cryptocurrencies
6. Local Board

I think you can get more information here ---> https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/ddmrddmr/viz/BitcointalkMeritDashboard and you can ask @DdmrDdmr If what you are looking for is not there.
If OP need more data on merit, then consider the advice hugeblack has given. So far the Merit Dashboard is what you need to know all the statistics about merit.

Looking at Ratimov’s post here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--5380683

It would be interesting to see how much merit is generated by subgroup and how many UNIQUE people actually are passing out data in each subgroup ( in 2021).

I would think someone has already run the data.

Using Ratimovs data in the first 4 columns, is there a place to see the three columns on the right that I added?
